Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 201Feb 16, 2014 9:51 pm Thanks guys. Gyprock is done. Looks so good. Our cornice is all wet though from rain coming in garage doorway. And the laundry doorway too. Will need to discuss with SS. Don't want them being sneeky and install wet cornice Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 202Feb 18, 2014 9:09 pm Hi all Have you guys considered your retaining walls? I keep having to pik myself up off the floor with the quotes. I wanted blocks as they look neat. 12k one side. Ummmm yeah right! Sucks spending money on a wall. Please allow plenty of extra cash. Wood retaining wall is around 7k. That's about 25m long and from 20cm to 1m high at the rear. For those that know the schools in the area my little one starts school next year. Options are GP primary or SC primary. I hope they are both good. We are moving into he area in the hope the schools will be half decent. Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 203Feb 19, 2014 7:25 pm Welcome Renski. How exciting that you are so advanced! Cannot wait to get to that part. If our calculations are correct, we will be extremely lucky to be in by Christmas. And I know there is a drought but I'm sure it will break once construction starts (no disrespect intended to the farmers battling these terrible conditions). So I'm guesstimating February - start of the school year. Renski, I've never worked at GP but have worked at SC and it was a very good school (was there casually back in 2011). You will find that you are most likely in the SC catchment area and the rules regarding accepting out of area students have been tightened. I think I will be sending my little one there too in a couple of years - unless we get a MR school! Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 204Feb 19, 2014 8:02 pm renski, most blocks at the ridge need retaining & most blocks are sharing the costs of the retaining. You only need stone blocks if its past the setback & in view of the street. dream_home93 there is a block set aside for a school at the ridge in darug street but it may be a some time before this happens. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 205Feb 19, 2014 10:00 pm Hi Renski, We might also go for the retaining wall for About 30 to 35m. At this stage I am not sure about the height of it. We have spoken to our builder and he said he will do it for us once the house is done. He also suggested that Timber would be a cheaper option. But we have plenty of time to think about it since we haven't yet started building. Anyways it would good to know how much it's costing others who are getting it done. Dream_home93, Sorry for this question but what do you mean by the northerly aspect. Is that where your entry is or is it your backyard. Our backyard faces north and we have maintained 8m on both the floors. Hope the CDC passes it. But I recently received our neighbour's plan from council who have maintained less that 8m. It would be interesting to see what happens with their plan. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 206Feb 19, 2014 10:24 pm Thanks dreamhome. I actually rung GP and they said in in their catchment. I'll be a bit annoyed if they have really tightened down out if area and I can't get in. Does look like a nice school I hate the not knowing when you will move. I have to apply for other child care centres and giving them dates is do hard Rung council about mgoa school last year they said no DA has been sent in yet. So possibly a while off Ms - it's good your builder can do it. One less hassle when moving in Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 207Feb 19, 2014 10:47 pm Renski my kids started at SC this year and we are VERY impressed so far (from a parent and teacher point of view). SC was my preferred option after speaking to other people. I have heard MR school would be opened in around 2016. In other news, documents are all here and signed. I need to drop off a set to the bank tomorrow for their records. DH will post off the builders copy in the morning and with any luck, BOOM! I'll have a house in 9 months. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 208Feb 20, 2014 7:41 pm Renski, I'm going to PM you. Airy fairy that is exciting. A saw that a fence went up on Binyang today. Awesome for that person!!! Ms2010, our house was facing north, not the backyard. You should be fine Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 209Feb 20, 2014 7:50 pm I've seen a school scheduled for MR but there was also land allocated in Forest Ridge(?) years ago when we bought in Blue Hills. I'm guessing they will determine the needs for a school based on numbers at the three Glenmore Park schools. Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 210Feb 20, 2014 8:50 pm Airy that's super exciting. Not long now hopefully. That's great that you're happy with the school. I also found out today a guy at works daughter is a teacher there and she said its a great school too. Schools are so stressful to choose and we just can't afford anything but public Dream - thanks so much. So even though it's proposed mr school they still may not build it? Did the forest ridge site just get built up with homes? Eden Brae Drysdale 27 | The Blog Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 211Feb 20, 2014 10:22 pm I also saw that fence up 3 doors up from us Lucky person. Not sure what is happening with the shopping centre either as they are extending the one currently at GP. They are finally going to put in decent parking, so the trolley won't run away down the hills. I loathe shopping there and usually try to get to the plaza. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 214Feb 21, 2014 5:51 pm That is sensational news Airy Fairy!!!! Congratulations. Exciting times ahead for you Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 215Feb 22, 2014 6:01 pm We were up on darug ave dreaming about our house as usual today and saw that a fence has gone up around a plot on Binyang. How exciting for the owners of that plot. We are still awaiting formal council approval....maybe (hopefully) next week with any luck. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 217Feb 22, 2014 7:05 pm Sounds like everyone is really progressing now. We are on Bluestone so still behind the fence - no word on when our block will be registered. Welcome Renski - great to see someone in the middle of building. Your blog has inspired me to do the same. If we ever get off the ground Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 219Feb 23, 2014 7:50 pm Yes we saw the fence up today on our future neighbours lot! The builder is InOne Homes. I think they are also building the house next to said lot as well. I'm praying it wont be a double storey home that will block out our sun as it is on our northern boundary. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 220Feb 24, 2014 4:37 pm Hi All, I've been lurking for a while but only just got to joining. My partner and I have a lot in 3C on Bluestone. Jeff expects registration first week of March as the plan is with LPI as of 10th Feb. We've only just met with builders to discuss plans so we're still a way out from actually starting the build. It's great to be able to read where others are up to to get an idea of timelines. I've been researching BAL and council requirements. Lots to consider but it's all pretty exciting! Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you.
