Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 182Feb 04, 2014 7:53 pm dream_home93 Just a quick update... We have signed off on a new set of plans. In all honesty, the Council Liaison Officer and drafty have done a very good job at making a minimal impact on our house! Hopefully the new plans will go to CDC for pre-approval this week. How are all of your houses going? Where are you up to? I noticed about three lots have had their soil turned on Darug during the week. Hopefully it will be all of our turn in the next two months!!! So what changes did you end up making? We stalled our plans for a month or so as I took a new job that I was offered just before Christmas. Just to give me some time to settle in before signing for the house. Not the best timing for a job change but it is a good opportunity. Now booked into signing the building contract late February. Hey Good Life, we chopped almost a metre off the home theatre and balcony, and then 10cm off other rooms except for the big room at the back which was 30cm. It came down ok. I understand about the job change. My hubby had to change jobs after we first had accepted the tender (redundancy) and we didn't know how it was going to be viewed by the bank but it was all good. Hope things move quickly for you when it is signed. Airy Fairy and Sunrise ... Hope you both have those approved plans in your hands soon. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 186Feb 11, 2014 5:25 pm Hello everyone, We are building in Mulgoa Rise. We are building with Unicus Homes. We are on Bradley Street. Plans went into council this week so here is hoping our slab is down in the next few weeks. We only found this forum today. So we will read back and catch up on where everyone is up to on their builds. Joe and Jules Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 187Feb 11, 2014 6:29 pm Welcome Joe and Jules! I am on Bradley Street too!! We could be neighbours for all we know! A few houses on Darug have had the soil turned now!!! I'm getting impatient! We had a pre-assessment done for CDC and got told this arvo that plans are ready to go in pending receipt of a cheque from us - could of had this sitting on their desk waiting to accompany the docs if we were told last week!! Anyhow, hopefully two more weeks to go!!! Airy Fairy, did you get your approved plans? Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 188Feb 11, 2014 8:43 pm Congratulations Dream Home!!!! I am glad to hear everything is sorted and moving ahead Welcome Joe n Jules... We received copies of our final plans which have just been submitted to MR for approval then off to council!! Im not expecting a slab until early April but end of next month would nice Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 189Feb 11, 2014 9:26 pm Welcome Joe & Jules. We have approval! So excited! We do have to move our driveway unfortunately - I have no idea why the plans were drawn up the way they were. I seem to remember something, but I'm not sure what it was now. Perhaps the land tapers in towards the back? Anyway, I am hoping to get lots of paperwork in the mail tomorrow and most importantly, A START DATE! We are hoping to get moved in by Christmas at this rate. We have been given a 36 week timeframe and I hope that is worst case scenario. Our lease ends in August, so I do not want to go through all that crap again, though in a pinch, we could stay up at my mother in law's mothers place at Woodford. Would be a bit of a hike though. Wishing everyone else luck in getting plans submitted and approved! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 191Feb 14, 2014 5:05 am Just a warning - nothing to do with building - I presume most of you live in the local area. If so, be extremely vigilant when using an ATM. Found out my card has been skimmed. I use ATMs to get money out at Glenmore Shops or Penrith Plaza. I have a feeling it was the Plaza one as hubby also used GP shops but be extra vigilant. I always cover my pin but they still somehow got me. Would prefer to mention it so you can be on the lookout - no one needs extra worries when building!! Building the Villina Grande Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 193Feb 15, 2014 11:38 am Just called our builder yesterday to ask about a start date. He said all approved and ready to go at his end and he wanted to start this week but MR are still looking at our plans that they were apparently given over a week ago!! So frustrating! Anyone else submitted plans to MR yet? Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 194Feb 15, 2014 11:53 am Rochelle and Craig We submitted ours a while ago and they took over the week to review. Ours came back with required changes in relation to the brick percentage. So we had to add more rendering. Lucky for us the builder missed it and as we has signed the contract they had to pay not us. Although I am sure we have already paid for it in another way. Our plans are with council. They have told us everything is ok but they are doing the paperwork still and they have a backlog. We lodged just before Christmas. I just need to be more patient I think. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 195Feb 15, 2014 1:20 pm Thanks Sunrise1. Incredible all the levels of approval, so much harder than building 20 years ago my parents built a two storey house 25y ago in 18 weeks! They can't believe the lengthy process we have taken. Deep breaths and patience I keep telling myself. Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 196Feb 15, 2014 9:27 pm We had verbal notice from our builder last Tuesday saying we were all approved (CDC) and we should get out paperwork Monday, hopefully with a start date and further details. I sincerely hope there is nothing else to sign. I'm over all the documents and initialling every page!
We had verbal notice of our approval last Tuesday, so with any luck, we start in March! Re: Anyone building in Mulgoa Rise? 198Feb 15, 2014 10:15 pm Hi everyone. I'd love to join you guys.
