Building isn't what takes the time, it's the scheduling that takes the time and effort. If they want to make it happen they can schedule things in so it does. For example our painters started on exterior prior to the cladding guys finishing, so there was an overlap of work being done. One day I visited there were 9 tradesman on site, plumbers, electrical and carpenters all working on different projects. Our contract is 40 weeks; I thought it sounded long, but asking around (about a month ago) that was standard for a 2-wtorey house in Sydney & surrounds.
