Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 30, 2013 1:14 pm Hi My house is a 200m2 lowset. Everybody is commenting on how slow my build is. It is up to the frame stage. They started the frame last Wednesday and I was informed it would take 5 days to complete. A week on and I have been told it will now be finished on Friday. The weather has been perfect except for yesterday afternoon. Other houses around that started the same day or the following day or two seem to be further ahead. I try and look at it as they are trying to get it perfect and it is probably not a bad thing. I don't see myself moving in before Christmas. Do you consider this as slow? Re: Frame 2Oct 30, 2013 1:26 pm Seriously? They started the frame last Wednesday, a week to the day, and you're worried they are moving slow? Accept that there is 0% chance of you moving in by Christmas and you won't be worrying about such minor issues. Re: Frame 3Oct 30, 2013 1:36 pm Just impatient. This is my first build so I have no idea what to expect. Re: Frame 5Oct 30, 2013 1:41 pm True. It has taken 7 months to get to this stage but seems like forever. Always the way when you are excited about something. Re: Frame 6Oct 30, 2013 2:31 pm Building_new_home I don't see myself moving in before Christmas. Hey, Have they actually told you that they expect you to be in before Christmas? I would imagine they would have to be absolutely flying to get you in on time if they are just starting... no offense... Your frame is definitely moving along in a reasonable time. When you say 7 months do you mean since you signed your contract, or signed and paid a deposit to start the contract to build process? Re: Frame 7Oct 30, 2013 4:27 pm The salesperson said it about a month ago. 8 months since talking to the salesperson and it was 7 months from when I sat down with the salesperson and discussed what design I wanted. 5 months since I signed contracts. The salesperson did say that they are a bit slow lol. But with how fast they build houses these days, I wasn't too sure what to expect. Maybe I should manage my expectations lol. It is my first home and I am doing it by myself so I was interested to know what others had experienced. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8075 This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this. As for the unscheduled site visits, most builders are quite… 1 28366 Hi, I have a steel frame house which was built 2 years ago.
