Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 43Oct 24, 2013 11:19 pm Update - Went in this week to do our external colour choices. I think we impressed her with our speed and decisiveness haha - we were in and out in 10 minutes. Really really glad we both love the manhattan exterior. We basically have chosen all colours based upon that. Roof - Colorbond Monument Gutters - Monument Brick - Mundaring Red (red and white mix bricks - same as our last place =D ) Render - Shale Grey (I think.. exact same as Manhattan) Window Frames - Black Lustre Front Door - Monument Colorbond Paint - but its going to be mostly frosted glass so black around the edges. Rollerdoor - Monument Outdoor Pavers - Grey (concrete colour/style) Plans are still in drafting. Can't wait for proper prestart! Done it once.. Lived in it a year.. Sold it.. Doing it again! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 44Oct 24, 2013 11:27 pm Exciting times!! We have monument four our front door, we were originally worried but I love it. Dark without being black How long till prestart? Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 45Oct 24, 2013 11:34 pm Yeah we aren't too worried - the colour is taken directly from the display and we are getting that same front door as well Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not too sure when prestart is - haven't got a set date yet. We're still waiting on plans to come out of drafting for final building contracts Just paying deposits, saving and paying land mortgage at the moment. Sigh, I think i'd forgotten this part about waiting for the build to actually start whilst paying for rent and everything How are you settling in to your place? Done it once.. Lived in it a year.. Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 46Oct 24, 2013 11:52 pm You could always do a glass splash back and put some decals on so that they are removable and that way you can change them up whenever you like Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 47Oct 25, 2013 12:05 am Loving our own space just having things fixed up!! I remember the waiting! So VERY slow and painful Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 49Dec 30, 2013 12:01 am AND also - A con-tap-ulations are in order. We got 'tapped'. It is of course covered in our neighbours rubble right now as both sides are in construction now and we're waiting on the bank ugh! Check it out The most amazing part, XMAS 2011 was when we had the tap on site for our first house build, and now XMAS 2013 we had tap on site for our second! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 50Dec 30, 2013 12:23 am Congratulations on your tap !! All the best for pre-start - such a fun (and expensive) day ! Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 51Dec 30, 2013 10:24 am Congratulations on the tap!! Exciting times ahead new home for Christmas 2014!! Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 52Dec 31, 2013 3:31 pm We went in to the selection centre to take a look at some tiles yesterday I've learnt that in order for us to agree on the prestart day I need to prep my partner weeks in advance and warm him to ideas and colours haha - or he just gets moody and can't make a decision haha! Played around with samples and tiles, and in our true indecisive style what we decided on there, after we left had a complete change of heart haha! Then I found an example one and really want it (see image below) - it's almost subway tiles but I think the builder will have these standard, so it's almost I guess a budget sensitive subway style tile Soo we'll be doing the following in the kitchen:
With such a big space I'm hoping the black won't look too much - we have a lot of bench space Anybody got any of their own piccies of black kitchen benchtops? I wanted the black benchtop with our white kitchen but it was one thing the OH had a very strong opinion about and we had to pick a colour that would also work in the bathrooms. I don't think you'll have a problem with the tiles, we got 100x400 for our splash back which were in the builders standard range, and our builder didnt have a huge range I also have draws everywhere in my kitchen and I LOVE them Re: Addicted to Building! Building with Dale Alcock in Ashby 54Dec 31, 2013 3:39 pm Hey - don't know if your keen to outsource at all. I used two different subway type tiles, used a cheaper version in my laundry. These tiles were not expensive at all. And to be honest they still give the desired look. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You can also get similar style at bunnings. Which I totally dismissed as an option, but in hindsight would have been fine! Re: Addicted to Building! I saw an amazing kitchen with turquoise subway tiles, but I found it too hard to source here! And I love the ensuite tiles also. I considered doing our floor in them - but thought our tiler might faint.... 2 9385 This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this.
