I think a more elegant solution would be to put a large deep drawer under the pantry anyway. Let's see what the builder says. that's sounds so good! where were you when I was designing my kitchen!!! LOL Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 63Jun 24, 2014 9:31 am Just a thought but why not use a space saving plumbing kit and then the bin will fit under the sink. That is what I am doing, that way you get another wide bank to match the other side. My builder said it couldn't be done so I sent through Hailo bins from Hafele and Spazio Sink kit from Franke. Done.... Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 64Jun 24, 2014 9:59 am Sounds like a good idea, but I think it would annoy me to have the bin under the sink. Wouldn't it get in the way when you're scraping your plates, rinsing them and stacking the dishwasher? Not sure how wide the doors are for your sink they look around 450mm so it should work. Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 66Jun 24, 2014 10:59 am Don't be surprised with the variations that come throughout the build. At prestart we asked for a 450mm overhang on our kitchen island bench so we could have enough legrooom. My fiance asked our consultant twice if she was sure we wouldn't need extra reinforcements for this and she said no. A few months later we get a $500 variation for extra brackets needed and we just had to roll our eyes. And now that the house is built, they only went 300mm in, not 450 as asked but they are refunding us $1000 as it was too much of a job to rectify so that's something at least. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 67Jun 24, 2014 11:12 am 1000 only. You speccd 450 for a reason and paid the upgrade and then paid the variation to support it. If you take out the unnecessary 500 I would say it is not a fair deal. The builder is quick to charge when they err. Not so quick to balance up. Get a quote from a cabinet maker what it would cost to rectify and you will see why they are glad to offer 1000. Very annoying as it is a one way street with builders. Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 68Jun 25, 2014 10:50 am I know it would cost a lot more and they would need to get a tiler too as they didn't tile underneath it the ss was saying so guessing it would not be a cheap fix as originally the ss said she could do it at PCI but has since said she can't. We probably should but we are literally getting our keys on Friday and I just can't be bothered fighting anymore. What I've learnt in this process is the builder always has everything in their favour, you can't win. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 69Jun 25, 2014 11:18 am I've just noticed the fridge tap is at 1950h. Is that a typical height. I expected it to be near the ground? You can move it if you don't like it. https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64434 Building our own custom design based on the Elwood by Dale Alcock Land settled - November Plans submitted to council - January Prestart - March Slab - 18 September Brickies - 23 October Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - Crazy Prestart Cost? 71Jun 29, 2014 8:30 am Yay. Re: Dale Alcock Build in Kensington - finally in constructio 78Jul 15, 2014 10:34 pm Got a nice (but unexpected surprise today)...they've started earth works! It's great to see, but once again there have been communication breakdowns and we weren't expecting any work to start for a couple of weeks. We'd just organised our own bob cat this morning to move some mulch to the back garden beds, but of course he now can't get access to the site! Hopefully the DAH guys can move it for us.
