Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 15, 2013 8:18 pm Hi Guys, I have just purchased a block of land recently in Harrisdale, Western Australia. My builder and i have drawn up a plan that me and my partner both are happy with, then after 4 weeks of waiting for our adenda and finalised plans to be sent out, i receive a phone call from the building salesman (who we have been dealing with) saying that the council wont let us build on the boundary line as there is an open park area on the right side and the house needs to be a meter off the boundary line, but the builder is telling me that he has a Signed DAP (detailed area plan) from the council stating that we can build on the boundary. The builder originally told us to cancel the whole thing, as we have a very small house and to take another meter off of it might just not work. Then he rang me the next day saying that we are just gonna go through with the original plan like we had drawn up cause we have a good case against the council. Then the next day after that he tells me that the council are being ridiculous and sends me another plan to look at. Firstly, i didn't think the builder and the council had that much constant communication with each other, i'm not sure if the builder isnt telling me something or not, i don't want to cancel the whole thing as we'll lose our $5000 land deposit and $2000 house deposit. Any insight would be muchly appreciated, thanks.
