I say do the upgrade if you are not going to be putting in better stuff later. have a look at what you want and see if you have the money within your budget. a good oven can cost about $2000 (that's a cheap good oven) if you want a rangehood in later that could cost a lot more due to cabinet work and cutting a bigger hole in the ceiling. or you could wait 5 years for the one the builder puts in to break! I am putting in two ovens when we build and I have a spot in the kitchen to put in another two ovens within the next year. so you can replace ovens easily because most brands do standard sizes. sinks are hard to change over due to the cutout. hotplates are ok to change you may need a Plummer out for that. once you have a rangehood they are easily to change (my husband has done that before and he isn't hands on sort of guy) $500 is a great price if its all the stuff you said. does it include a range hood?
