Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 12, 2013 1:29 pm Hey all, Just after any feedback on our plan. We have a 10 acre block, and have been going around in circles for the last couple of years on the way forward. Have now decideed to knock down the original house as it is located on the best house site on the block. Have come up with our own design, with solar orientation in mind. The living area's are on the Northern side. We have tried to build it only as big as we need, taking into account heating and cooling costs etc. Be great to hear any feed back good or bad. Thanks. One small mistake I made in a similar house is locating the hot water water service. Often this is close to the laundry. That will mean it will take ages to get the hot water to the kitchen and En-suite shower. Annoying and a waste of water if you are on tank water. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Love the walk in robes leading to the ensuite, only small extra I'd miss is some natural light in the ensuite - maybe a skylight? http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Feedback on our plan, rural block. 4Aug 12, 2013 5:07 pm Hey Bashworth, cheers yeah good point, someone will have to miss out on the hot water speed on our plan and I think it's going to be the kids! Cheers Robbie55, Good point on the light in the ensuite, Council will require a vented skylight to get it past. The window is one of two things missing that I would of liked, the other is a little bar nook set into the window - a place to have breaky or a beer and sit on stools and look out the window.
