Hi,
When my hubby and I decided to get our own place, we were so bent in getting an established home but we were taking our own sweet time that one day we were surprised to see that houses were selling like hotcakes. I then saw this TV ad about the Movers Club and signed up without realising it was a lead for a building company which is Aussie Living Homes. We then met a very passionate sales guy who influenced us to consider building a home.
When we moved in OZ over four and a half years ago, we have always lived in NOR so making a decision to build in Pearsall wasn't a difficult decision. I stumbled upon this forum during the early stage of our decision-making and since then has always been a rich source of information especially for first-timers like us.
Although I do not regularly check in on this site, I have been for some time reading through people's journey so now that some action is happening with mine, I thought it's about time to share them as well.
I have observed that most posts follow a format where specific timelines are shared so I guess I will begin by doing the same. Here's how our build have progressed so far:
02.12.2012 - signed up with ALH / PPA
18.02.2013 - first plan
06.03.2013 - loan approved
08.04.2013 - pre-start
22.04.2013 - signed off final plan
06.05.2013 - settlement on land
27.05.2013 - transfer of title to our names
11.07.2013 - final variation after scheduling
19.07.2013 - earthworks
10.08.2013 - slab down
We are building the Salmon Bay on a 307sqm block. Here is a copy of the plan.

We made a minor modification from the original plan to include an alfresco without sacrifing much of the space. Here is the original plan.

The rains have been slowing down the work but we won't complain as we know how much Perth needs the rain. I am just happy to finally see some action happening after waiting for what seemed like ages!
We were originally told (when we signed up) we will be moving into our new home before Christmas but because of so much delay in paperwork I am not holding my breath. I think realistically it will be sometime in January or February next year, the latest (hopefully).
I am sure I will have so much questions to follow but for now I am just glad that I now have our own building thread to start with.
