Custom Build 23Mar 09, 2014 11:31 pm I use to love long weekends until we started building now I just want the builder to get back to work - Im sure my love for long weekends will return when Im able to enjoy my house. I have so far spent most of the weekend spending money New washing machine and Fridge from Harvey Norman http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kitchen- ... ridge.html very excited about the fridge as its the first plumbed fridge for us. We just went with a relatively cheap front samsung front loader and hopefully this does the job. We have batten lights through out our house but have already decided to upgrade a few of these. we went with DIY spotlights in the kitchen and also infront of our wardrobe as I HATE digging through the wardrobe in the dark Kitchen Light in chrome http://www.nulighting.com.au/media/cata ... ght_1_.jpg Wardrobe light http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/shop-b ... hrome.html Not a massive fan of the kitchen light but it should do the job and is easy enough to change down the track. I have spent months looking for a light for the dining room and never really found the perfect one and seeing as it needs to be installed by the electrician I basically had to pick something and hope that it arrives in time (our closest beacon is 100+ kms away so ordered online) http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighti ... hrome.html No idea what Im going to do with the rest of the lights but figured I could probably live with them until I decide. The next big shop will be for furniture we can get capped shipping from Ikea so that looks like our best option at the moment, not that we have a whole lot of options, with Harvey Norman being basically the only shop locally and also way out of our budget for most things, or Fantastic Furniture which charges the same delivery fee as Ikea, Im currently trying to persuade my dad to come visit from WA to help with all the flat pack as my partner is not the most patient person when it comes to instructions. Re: Locked Out after 6 weeks!!! Custom Build 24Mar 19, 2014 10:26 pm I wrote a massive update but lost the lot so I'll start again
Things have slowed down a lot, we are still moving much faster than the other builds in the street though. The builder has made a start on the driveway i will be glad to be rid of the sand, it drives me insane Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Today we also got RENDER hoping this will be finished in the next day or two as the driveway wont be done until they leave. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We have had the bath and shower bases sitting in the spare room for a few weeks now and I was very excited when I noticed they had been moved, the excitement was short lived tho as the bath is in the bathroom but the drain is in the wrong spot so its now just sitting in the door way Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The builder called today to let me know the kitchen is booked to go in next week, I also realised I hadn't sorted out the splash back so emailed the joinery company and was very surprised to get a reply from them at 10pm. I am thinking about going with stainless (something like the picture below) but I'm not to sure about how easy it will be to keep looking nice. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The photo below is similar to the colours we decided to go with in our kitchen (after changing our mind about 10 times) Our floors are also very similar to this picture and will be done in 3-4 weeks. Custom Build 25Mar 24, 2014 8:34 pm I decided on Friday that I wouldn't be visiting the house until Wednesday at the earlier as very little has been happening I caved tonight after work and was very surprised to find that the brick layer had finished the outdoor heater. The renders seem to have packed up but hopefully will be back soon to render the fireplace. Im very impressed with the pull out ironing board. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The bath has finally gone in along with the bathroom cabinets. We have had a fair bit of rain here over the last few days so that has delayed the outside stuff but hopefully we will get a drive way in the next week or so. Re: Kitchen Pictures!! - Custom Build Tas 28Mar 29, 2014 6:00 am looking fantastic your fridge is similar to mine i just went a bit larger and it was also my first plumbed in awesome. love your idea for the kitchen Re: Locked Out after 6 weeks!!! LOVE it! ______________________________________________________________________ Signed up Jan 2013........Almost done! My thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65763 Re: Kitchen Pictures!! - Custom Build Tas 31Mar 30, 2014 7:40 pm Picking a builder was a way harder choice than I thought it would be until we met this one as soon as i first dealt with him I knew straight away that he was the one, He rings/emails weekly and responds immediately to messages. He gives us full access to our house and allows us to use the supplier of our choice for everything. We've made a few changes along the way and nothing has ever been a problem. Several friends are about to begin building and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. The storage is insane compared to our current kitchen I have no idea what I'm going to fill it all with but I'm sure I will find something. This week the builder is hoping to get the shed slab down (the shed will be constructed at a later date) the inside painting finished, the wardrobes in and the laundry finished off, the fireplace rendered and the rest of the render touched up and the driveway and paths done so hopefully we will have a week of perfect weather. Re: Kitchen Pictures!! - Custom Build Tas 32Apr 12, 2014 8:44 pm We have had very little progress over the last few weeks and have a few delays due to the weather so still haven't gotten all the concreting done outside however the builder was working on it today. The builder has assured me that the house will be finished by the end of the month, it would of been sooner but due to the Easter break he has be unable to book the carpet layers until the 28th. So all going to plan we should be in early May. Ive got a week off from the 1st (as this is the date the builder said handover would be) but I"ve already decided that there will be some sort of delay to avoid disappointment, Ive also avoided packing but since my parents are coming to stay with us for a few weeks its something I really need to get on to. My parents were planning on coming over once the house was finished but it seems that they will be arriving just in time to help us move which works out great for me but not so great for them. We are having issues with the neighbours and the fence, they originally wanted the fence up months ago and we agreed but they haven't done anything about it, we keep chasing it up and they keep saying next week. The house next door is a spec home and they seem in no hurry to finish it off. We have a very active Labrador so moving in with out a fence isn't really an option. There isn't really a whole lot left to do the painters finished up this week, the renders still haven't been back to finish the outdoor heater but I'm guessing they are waiting until the concrete is finished as access is a little difficult at the moment. We did purchases a screen and a grate for it though and have arranged to have some wood delivered basically as soon as we get the keys. The alfesco area has bee The pull out range hood needs replacing as its dented but the builder is on to this and I noticed today there is also a hole in one of the fly screens but Im sure this will be fixed to. The showers have been installed and the tiles are in. Its great every time someone comes to look at the house I show them, they never seem overly impressed not sure if ill be so excited when there is a stack of stuff to iron tho Well not much has happened this week the path around the house is finished but they haven't yet started on the driveway. The neighbours also assured me the fence would be up last week but they haven't even started it. I have basically spent the entire weekend packing and cleaning I didn't realise how much stuff we have hoarded. Also headed to fantastic furniture and purchased basically a house full of furniture none of it was on stock but hopefully won't take to long to arrive worst case we may just have to bring some of our outdoor furniture inside Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All going to plan only 11 days left !! Re: Kitchen Pictures!! - Custom Build Tas 35May 11, 2014 1:18 am Well we are basically finished we have the plumber coming back on Monday to fit something to the fridge tap and the painter needs to touch up a few places where the wall was damaged by the splash back installer, we have started moving in but will be a few days off sleeping over as the fridge is currently out of action - I did however sneak up today for a bath The CBA have done a fantastic job with our payment we sent the final invoice to our broker on Wednesday they had a valuer come out Friday morning and the money was in the builders account by 4pm the same day. Our house was meant to be complete on the 1st but due to a bit of bad weather it was delayed I have had the last week off work so I spent most my holidays cleaning our old house. We have always had access to our house though so also managed to get the curtains up and the place clean before hand over We have very little furniture to move (it's on order) and so basically the only complete rooms are the bathroom laundry and ensuite and they are all missing mirrors. I will try up get the alfresco furniture together tomorrow as we currently have no where to sit my mum had kindly given us an old couch to use until ours arrives but due to the rain we haven't been able to move it yet. Heaps of storage. Hey nice clock there too. I especially love the laundry artwork. tee hee. Oh, and I am completely excited about your pull out ironing board. I cant wait to get something similar in my house. No more of this pack up put away ironing board stuff! (or if you are like me, just leave ironing board out in the middle of the lounge, or kitchen, or patio - where ever I have chosen to iron that day) All the best getting those mirrors up and getting the rest of your furniture delivered. You must be so happy Sandra Re: Kitchen Pictures!! - Custom Build Tas 37May 11, 2014 6:54 pm Love that laundry sign - too cute! Have the joinery company coming over tomorrow to remove the kick board hopefully there isn't to much damage under there. Also are you… 6 7048 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34273 6 55354 |
