Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 08, 2013 9:45 am Hi everyone. Building with Bold Properties in Dakabin, QLD. Waiting for my selections meeting and considering paying the upgrade for my celings to go from 2.4M to 2.7M. Is it worth it? Does it look strange? Or is it definitely something everyone is doing? Are the display homes at North Lakes or other places usually with 2.7M ceilings? Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 2Aug 08, 2013 9:47 am Can't comment about displays in your area, but it was the first upgrade on our wishlist. Simply put we went through hundreds of displays and those that were 2.4m were noticbly smaller to us and felt different. I think its the best thing we have done as a choice. Very happy we agreed to pay for it. Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 9Aug 08, 2013 12:08 pm Yep have to agree - higher ceilings make the place nicer to live in and lead to better resale value. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 10Aug 08, 2013 1:23 pm We did it, for our lower story, I think it's well worth it. My Hamptons build (completed): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63370 Moved in Wednesday 11th Dec 2013 Front landscaping completed June 2016 Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 11Aug 08, 2013 4:39 pm We did it, framing is complete and the house looks huge! I love it and the house isn't even complete! We have a single level which is going to house 6 people...we wanted our home to feel as big as possible. It's not something you can upgrade to later so definitely do it now Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 14Aug 08, 2013 10:42 pm Yep, do it! I laugh now as my current house ceiling is the height of the door frames in the new house! I can't wait for high ceilings!! Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 17Aug 09, 2013 10:22 am Yes do it. BUT also upgrade the height of your internal doors (including wardrobe doors) as well. It looks so much better with the higher ceilings. Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 18Aug 09, 2013 12:12 pm I know it's different for various builders and of course depending on the area that you're raising the ceiling for, but can I please get some price ranges of increasing from 2.4 > 2.7, and even from 2.5 > 2.7? How much was the upgrade for you? Also, are there project builders out there who offer a ceiling height upgrade of 3.0? --- Re: upgrade to high ceiling? 19Aug 09, 2013 12:34 pm From the few I've look at its around $6k from 2.4 to 2.7m. There seem to be more and more builders including higher ceilings though as part of promotions for around $5k-$6k with a whole heap of other goodies. I've also seen some houses on sloping blocks (front to back) where to save on site costs they have a step up down to the rear living areas but maintain the same ceiling height all the way through, so the rear areas have 3m ceilings. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard. At least they are not weep holes. Are you in a high intensity rainfall region? The regulatory slope is only required… 3 5254 Thanks mate. Yeah good points! Leaning towards Option 3 to get a bit extra space in the cabinets but not going too crazy high (and expensive). Would require a mini… 13 30513 Thanks for sharing. Looks good. The joiner has come back with a quote of close to 5k. I think we are going to not do it. Attaching panelling is something they are dead… 11 10083 |
