The only thing is i don't like feeling like i am tucked away somewhere. Usually the studys are sort of apart of the living space, which i like! Some of them if they have a small second lounge in the front i think i could make a study, such as the Westwood for Carlisle Homes. We are going to look at this Display on the weekend! I know what you mean!! I'm building westwood 29 and will be converting the front living room to a study and then keeping rumpus as a movie/games room and then the family room as the usual tv room. Great idea! We went to have a look at the Westwood in i think it was Melton South? (might be wrong) on the weekend. As much as i loved the floorplan, we still didnt LOVE the house. But we went through the Addison 26 and i think i love it!!! It has everything we want! Study, rumpus, ensuite, large WIR... now we just have to start thinking about decorating (for next year when we build) But i have pretty much everything planned on that front too. Seeing as since i was about 10 i started making scrap books of what my house would look like haha. Anyone know of anybody who has build the Addision 26 or 24? I wouldn't mind seeing some photos! http://kateandnathsblog.blogspot.com.au/ Carlisle Homes Addison 24 - Warralily, Armstrong Crk, Geelong • Colour: June 1 Tender: June 9 Contract: July 3 • Site Title: Dec 2015 • Site Start: March 1 2016 • H/Over: June/July Re: First Home Buyer - Porter Davis VS Carlisle Homes 23Sep 13, 2013 2:15 pm Sambogirl81 Hey Kate, We needed a good study space in our new home and found and fell in live with what was the Ivanhoe 33 with porter davis, now called the Housten 33 great floor plan and fantastic study. Maybe have a look at tntheynhave a display of it in cranburne and greenvale Oh cool! Yeah they are probably a bit too big/expensive for us that's the only thing. We are looking to buy land and house with the upgrades for under $400,000 and i think we can do that with the Addison now that we have decided! Thanks so much for the help though! http://kateandnathsblog.blogspot.com.au/ Carlisle Homes Addison 24 - Warralily, Armstrong Crk, Geelong • Colour: June 1 Tender: June 9 Contract: July 3 • Site Title: Dec 2015 • Site Start: March 1 2016 • H/Over: June/July Re: First Home Buyer - Porter Davis VS Carlisle Homes 24Dec 19, 2013 11:02 pm Hey Kate, We are currently in our tender process with the Addison 26 and everything with Carlisle so far has been great. When choosing the floor plan I was tossing up between the Drysdale of PD and the Addison of CH, and in the end CH won us over because the Drysdale had too many living rooms (games, theatre, rumpus) plus the study was in an awkward spot and all round the design just didn't flow. The Addison on the other hand suited us perfectly, from the entrance to the rear it was just so bright and open, it had a real grand feel to it and nowhere in the house does it feel squashy. The Master is a great size, WIR and ensuite are nice, theatre room is set apart from the main tv room, and we liked the location of the study at the rear which could be used for kids play room and we could supervise while in the living room or kitchen. The whole house just seemed larger, i think it's a really practical design. Also, I'm a building inspector, and structurally i've heard heaps of great comments about carlisle, and not good comments about porter davis, and to me thats what really counts, the look of the house can always change but the structure needs to be spot on. Carlisle told me that as an inspector I should feel free and look over what they do, and if any issues arise they'd be happy to fix it, that was a huge plus and gave me peace of mind. We got a bucket load of upgrades (garage width extension, infilled some walls, caeserstone bench tops throughout, floor to ceiling tiles in bath and ensuite to name a few) and including site cost (problem soil site, bored piers, rock removal included) and everything came to under $240,000. We saw the display home in Craigeburn and fell in love, the off white tiles are the exact ones we are going to use. Really elegant and grand. There is sooo much natural light throughout the house, perhaps the most we have seen out of all the display homes i've been too which is such a big deal for us. Anyway we're young first home owner's too so we know what it's like; the money is scary and we have changed our minds and pulled our hair out so many times with colours and designs, but it's all part of it and really worth it at the end of the day. All the best for your house, if you have any questions about our process or what upgrades we've chosen, design colours etc, feel free to ask Re: First Home Buyer - Porter Davis VS Carlisle Homes 25Jan 31, 2014 11:47 pm I need a large study for my work too and my partner needed a space for their stuff, so we went with Carlisle Ascot 35 - has a large rumpus down the back that I'm using for my work space, another study nook area for my partner, theatre room, open living/dining/kitchen and four bedrooms. It's nice and open, if you want to go that large. For us, we thought it was the best floor plan. And PD gave us nothing but headaches just to get them to give us a quote! They were terrible. Carlisle on the other hand have been amazing to this point - can't recommend them highly enough at this stage. Re: First Home Buyer - Porter Davis VS Carlisle Homes 26Feb 02, 2014 9:32 pm Hi, FYI we are building in a new estate cloverlea Carlisle have 10 homes going in ! We are building with SBG our selves, and have found them amazing, Carlisle have a great rep, compared to other large volume builders, Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12337 Not much in this responce. My suggestion is, what are you looking to build and why. This will all be impacted by the local councils planning scheme. Familiarise yourself… 6 5863 We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37143 |
