Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aveling build in Carramar 41Aug 20, 2013 7:44 pm Hey 3munkeys I thought I would stop by and say hey we are Owner Building an extension on 5 Acres In Carramar - Lucky you getting a nice size block but still having Scheme Water and Sewerage etc. Cheers AKB viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 42Aug 30, 2013 12:13 pm Re: Aveling build in Carramar 43Aug 30, 2013 12:23 pm Not anal at all...I was quite annoyed I couldn't have my windows central I insisted on it in the ensuite shower though, didn't look like it was that difficult to do... We have tiling starting today and SS reckons 9 more weeks...sounds ridiculous but so much to fix so I can see it taking that long! Mid october sounds a bit off for sure.. Re: Aveling build in Carramar 44Aug 30, 2013 12:37 pm Wow thanks for the quick response, it looks central on my plan but not sure of its too late to do anything about it. Didn't notice it until they plastered the wall now it's really noticeable. They told me tiler was due in 4 weeks, that was 4.5 weeks ago and I'm meant to be told a new date in a weeks time, I'm supplying the tiles so I need to arrange delivery. The phone call I received yesterday advised that when I meet the SS we will be going through the house and discussing tiling, so that's still another 2.5 weeks away, they only confirmed for me last week that mid oct was still correct. I'm really getting over it, I hardly even visit anymore, too depressing to see what little has been done, in 4 weeks its been the ceiling, plaster and windows/doors. By the time the house is done it would have taken 16 months since signing. Wow 9 weeks from tiling, I wonder if I will be in by the end of the year Re: Aveling build in Carramar 46Aug 30, 2013 12:55 pm That window would drive me nuts - I don't think your being A at all viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 47Aug 30, 2013 1:00 pm Oh good so it's not just me, can I ask them to fix it this late?? Re: Aveling build in Carramar 50Aug 30, 2013 1:32 pm I would give it a go at getting it fixed now If they say no A.) you've already raised it so its on record and B.) If I was you I would just prefer they fix it - As my other half keeps telling me anything is possible if you throw enough time and resources at it viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 51Aug 30, 2013 1:35 pm I would certainly be asking the question why it wasnt built as per the plans though. You never know but I really dont think they could do anything :s We only noticed at our tile meeting that our WIL opening had one side 10mm wider than the other and one side was on a bit of an angle. Said our floor tiling will make this really obvious and its gonna get fixed somehow?! Interesting to see the finished result :s Re: Aveling build in Carramar 52Aug 30, 2013 1:37 pm Lol, yeah I will ask them and see what they say, it's taken this long what's another few weeks delay compared to the months I've waited. It's not my job to make sure that they are building according to the plan so why should I be penalised if they make a mistake. Hope they fix it for you Kat, what little faith we have with our builders lol Re: Aveling build in Carramar 53Aug 30, 2013 2:04 pm Is it face brick outside? It's most probably because they have fit the windows to work with the outside bricks. Whole bricks and half bricks as opposed to the odd sized pieces they would of had to use. It does look a little out, but I'm sure after a while you will just forget about it My build: viewtopic.php?t=62001 My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62001 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 54Aug 31, 2013 8:23 pm I've noticed most people's toilet windows are off centre. Mine included, not sure why Re: Aveling build in Carramar 56Sep 01, 2013 10:34 am That's so strange they make it off centre, was it off centre in your plan Leanne? The toilet will be the same width as the window so it's going to be very noticeable that you can see the window to one side then not the other. Re: Aveling build in Carramar 57Sep 05, 2013 10:11 am Well still no progress, we were booked in to have a meeting with our ss today, they emailed yesterday to cancel it and want to reschedule for dates that we already advised weren't possible, DH works away and they have pulled out one of our kitchen windows and outside bricks, looks like they forgot some wiring. It is not even remotely possible to have the house done mid oct which is what they have been telling us all along, I was sceptical anyway but at the rate that they are going I think it will be lucky to be ready the start of December. They have done so little in the last 5 weeks its like they have forgotten us Re: Aveling build in Carramar 58Sep 05, 2013 12:38 pm Oh 3munkeys that's no good I think it must be really frustrating to see it sitting there and not being worked on viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 59Sep 05, 2013 2:28 pm I know, it gets depressing when nothing gets done. Sometimes I want to just go in there and start painting myself! We have things that need to be fixed before the next step gets done and its so frustrating when they don't fix things straight away. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Aveling build in Carramar 60Sep 05, 2013 3:36 pm Hi 3munkeys, that window doesn't look as neat as if it were central. Where I live now the WC window is off-centre like that though so maybe that is just how it gets to done to fit with the exterior brickwork Still, if your plan says it should be central make sure you tell 'em!
