Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who is building with Allworth Homes 2824Feb 12, 2018 2:00 pm Im about to finish my build, the site supervisor told us that we should have the keys next week (well before the 34 week) Overall its been a pretty decent experience, we haven't had any issues with Allworth. Could be a different story once they hand over the keys and we go through what needs to be fixed. But so far so good, when the trades are in they smash out the work pretty quickly. Re: Who is building with Allworth Homes 2826Feb 26, 2018 11:16 am Has anybody done something creative with the brick piers on a Portico facade? We’re thinking of doing stacked stone, or rendering or even just painting them to brighten it up a bit. Pics and/or suggestions please? Re: Who is building with Allworth Homes 2827Feb 27, 2018 8:09 am Cman No one building with Allworth homes? Hi Cman, I am currently building the Carlisle with Allworth homes, you can check out my thread below. Hi TimK, The portico facades are pretty bland, that said, the first thing i would look at doin g would be to raise the height so that the roof line sits higher than the main roof, similar to the pagoda facade on the carlisle. If you are thinking of stackstone cladding, definately look at doing this yourself after handover, its a pretty simple DIY job if you a keen to have a go. We originally hade the pagoda facade on our carlisle build, but I preffered brick to render for the front elevation, so I used a portsi facade and lengthened it and raised the height, so that it was similar to the pagoda, there are pictures in my build thread. The reason i raised the height is to give it a little bit of street presence as we are building in a new estate that appears to have a number of people building houses either two storey or with 26 degree roof pitch (mac jones etc), this way it doesnt get lost in the streetscape, as Allworth build with a 22 degree roof pitch generally. Hope this helps, good luck with your design. Re: Who is building with Allworth Homes 2832Feb 27, 2018 1:58 pm Thanks Mr Biggens. It’s too late for me to make changes as the house was finished mid last year. You’re right though it is a bit bland, and now the same house with same colour scheme is being built in the area so it’s prompted me to do something about it. I’ll check out your thread, thanks. My wife and I are thinking of building this Allworth design in the Illawarra and want to be on top of any hidden costs etc. It appears Some have mentioned a builders margin what is this??? What about site costs? i know it depends on land contour, fill or removal, soil condition etc. just curious what others have had to pay. Any tips on costs of extras such as
What are the choices of carpets and tiles, bricks etc? ie. what is the builders selected range? Maxim inclusions? I have no idea what this means and it does not seem to be noted anywhere. is the fancy way of noting the standard inclusions? Raising ceiling height to 2.7m? Having Allworth do the driveway during build? Altering garage door to 1 x 4.8m door rather than 2 doors? Thanks Re: Who is building with Allworth Homes 2839Jun 11, 2018 9:47 pm Hi for the Maxim inclusions , if you go to the Allworth website click on the Altona and the inclusions is down the botttom where it says ready to live pricing, then it says inclusions. You also get some other inclusions I forget what’s it’s called . I will look at my paperwork tomorrow and let you know. We are building the Altona Rumpus delux. Ask for references and speak to them.
