Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 61Aug 09, 2008 3:03 pm Lloydmav well we were told 2-3 wks for approval because the council is very fast. In fact everyone I work with as well has also commented that our council is well known for being quick on approvals. So hopefully the plans will be back this coming week. Dashed off to the block this morning and took a pic of the water meter complete with the lid open so I could grab a snap of the reading. And there is water!. DH hadn't tested it but I did. hmm perhps I should go bck later and pour myself a glass and have the first drink from our house. hehehe
hmm if i had a billy I could invite people for a cuppa. Fingers crossed nothing happens to the tap. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 62Aug 09, 2008 9:06 pm here's hoping no one steals the meter. People seem on the whole more considerate here. for example this morning I was out and someone ran into my car outside a friends shop. They came into the shop to ask if anyone owned the car. IN Perth the last 3 times ( many years) someone has run into my car no one has even bothered to leave a sorry note let alone try and find me. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 64Aug 09, 2008 9:28 pm Woo - hoo, water meter and tap - you'll be overtaking us before you know it!!!! (I know you know all about it! )
Love the look of the house - looking forward to seeing it spring up! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 65Sep 06, 2008 11:06 am well its been a bit more than 3 weeks. It seems the person who does approvals at our local shire has been on holidays and only returned the week before this one. DH got a phone call yesterday from our SC to say plans are back from council but approval from the health department for our septics isn't back yet. They expect it next week.
more delays. I want to be in before next winter. My " I'm damn cold" mantra all winter has been" just one winter" Now I'm beginning to wonder if we'll even be at slab stage by october. Darn building business takes too long. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 66Sep 19, 2008 8:15 pm Paperwork has gone to construction,. We had to have a small change in our leech drain layout as they were too close together.
Today we got a bill for our first installment. It's due by Friday. "How embarrassment" being thrilled to be asked for money. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 67Sep 19, 2008 8:32 pm So when is the actual start Kexkez? And where are some more photos?
Did your final plans change at all from the plans you posted earlier... or the same? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Once building starts, the invoices will start arriving thick and fast ... and you will probably not be finding them so thrilling...! Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 69Sep 19, 2008 9:23 pm We don't have a start date as such yet Joles. We got a letter yesterday tell us who our onsite building manager would be and who the office contact for that person was. Construction site for the builders business. Different people than our in office team we originally dealt with. There was also a standard proforma page giving details of the stages of the build, when we were to be contacted to arrange formal inspections and how long each stage was likely to take.
Today the first invoice arrived. We've had a tap with water and a water meter for over a month. I'm hoping/assuming they'll let us know when the earthworks guys are due to start. It's the same builder Pebble has and she was told when they were about to do some work onsite. Plans didn't change much except for them correcting the kitchen and changing a doorway. I'll rescan the final plan over the weekend and add it to the blog. I've got some scanning to do for something else so I'll do the lot together. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 70Sep 20, 2008 11:24 am Our final plans.
Would love to have had the entrance to the office somewhere other than where it was but in changing builders this was the only way we could set out the office entry. In the original plan the lounge was further forward and the entry to the office was further removed from the kitchen. I really wanted it to feel disconnected from the kitchen. Yesterday I cracked and rang the builders and was told earthworks are due to start on Friday and that they have the slab booked to happen on the 23rd. So..... keep fingers , toes and anything else you are willing to cross crossed for us. If the slab goes down when they've said we should be at plate height before they break for Christmas. Maybe even further along. So if all goes according to plan I should hopefully have some fresh photos by the weekend . Yippeee.
