I was able to watch them begin and tee up for 4 more holes to be drilled for a few more trees. Yippee. Had a huge win as I was rushing about trying to do some last minute prep before they arrived. DH commented that he was worried some of my additional dirt would be in the way of the fencing guys. So about an hour before they were due I rushed out to shift some dirt just as a man with a trenching machine/digger arrived to do some work across the road. Since he was not able to start until the electrican arrived he offered to shift a few scoops worth of sand for me. woohoo. Wonderful So our fence is now finished although the wired part doesn't look great. Because they followed the slope of the ground some of the wiring is now crooked. Nothing we can do about it except hope that once some plants are in it will be less obvious. We also intend to put chicken wire in behind the wire fencing to make the gaps too small for rabbits so this should mean the crooked wire lines should be less noticable. Today was the first time I'd had a chance to take any photos as the weekend was very busy. I've had to lighten the photos a bit so that the fence can be seen. Hubby reports someone was there during the week measuring for wood flooring. Sound lovely. They've left a light on though. It's been on since Wednesday. Nothing we can do about it as we haven't seen anyone to tell. Purchased a japanese maple and a flowering plum yesterday.Flowering Plum ( Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' see pic) Both barerooted plants. Came home and planted them straight away and gave them some seasol to help them recover from the shock. They need a bigger drink and more seasol this weekend. Proper details on the maple when the sun comes up and I remove the tag. I was hoping we would have the ute fixed by now but they've had no luck finding a replacement fuel tank for it. Yes the fuel tank has sprung a leak. So no ute driving atm . Very frustrating as I wanted to get the remaining 3 silver birches this coming week. We've decided to spend the reticulation money on the wall after all the water pressure disappointment. I still want a water tank and pump but DH can't see the value. Just dashed out and picked up a another silver birch. 2 more to go. Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 546Jul 06, 2010 6:54 pm Keep the tree pics coming-it's great to see someone else's plantings! I planted an apricot and 3 Pyrus "Chanticleer) yesterday....I'm waiting on 2 more apples and a nectarine to arrive from the Diggers Club for the orchard. Grows around 2 m max. I know someone who runs a nursery who planted one so her grandkids could actually pick fruit. The normal sized trees end up too big and the apples too far up. ( at that size if need be she was willing to net it) but from what she said she hasn't worried about it. Has full sized apples too. We are going to put one out the back, plus a lemon tree and maybe some others if I can talk G into them Saw a peach tree and lemon today in Bunno. Nearly bought a magnolia Sou... ( chinese magnolia) in Mitre 10 in Bunno. Hesitated because a) it was $49 and b) wasn't sure it would fit in my car c) I bought 3 more light fittings instead. I already have the hole dug for it. Just been waiting to find a healthy looking one to buy. I think I'll have to give up on the magnolia otherwise I'll be forever improving the soil to keep it alive. Bought this lovely plant though: A coprosma "evening haze" has the most beautiful multicoloured leaf Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 548Jul 08, 2010 1:26 pm Ahh yes Terry would be happy if I told him I was getting dwarf varieties. I must agree sounds like a great idea. They would probably go out front but on the lower shelf, not the part level with the hosue as nice as it would have been to have small fruit trees in those square beds. Beautiful I can never get enough good soil, I had to buy good soil the other day for my vegie garden, $120 for a tiny mini very small truck full Re: Here we go- and go and go and go 551Oct 06, 2012 10:03 am well it seems the ceiling issues are still going to get us. Just posted this on my blog. We'd been watching as the cracks had gotten worse in several of the ceiling board joints once again but this was /is something else. It might be the glue or just another example of poor workmanship from the plasterers. One length of wall in the games room, right above several computers has come away from whatever holds it up. Not just the cornice but the plaster board. It's a length of about 5m. At worst it drops about 10 cm. So yesterday morning a call was made to the maintenance supervisor, "D" He sounded fairly relaxed about it when Hubby called him on his mobile. But 10 minutes later , I'm guessing after arriving at work, and checking our our build history he called back, a little less complacent. He said he'd be out with someone else as well. True to his word they both arrived within 2 hours. They also took a good look at the cracked plaster joins. So the plasterer will be expected to return. fix the problem, including redoing all the cracked board joints. Here's hoping this time he and his workers actually don't make as much mess. Fingers crossed they will actually call and organise times to come rather than just turn up and expect to be let in without notice as they did last time. We've sent an email to "D" with the times it suits us for the next week to have someone come out. Eldest has 4 exams next week, I have chiro appointments etc. So they will have to work around us. Last time was a pain in the... So lots of additional screws into the plaster board, repatching and repainting. Again! I hope it doesn't drag on over 8 months this time. G put up some pipe and used 2 brooms to stop the ceiling from slipping further and hold it in place on Thursday night. Hopefully today the plasterer will call and come and add some screws to hold it in place. I know he wasn't their usual guy as they were full on with work and had to contract in additional plasterers at the time. The bloke was..... no point in typing it as it would be a banned word. it cold be the glue. but given the other issues with the ceiling previously it doesn't seem likely. He did the work on the house across from us as well. Hope they have more luck with their ceiling than we have had. Still waiting on a phone call from him. too bad if we want to use the broom, or the pipe. hmm sorry can't sweep the house. no broom available hehehe Haven't told them about the cracked tiles on the floor of the bathroom yet. Settling in the slab. There's a line of tiles cracked through on the bathroom floor. Hubby thinks we should wait a little longer in case it hasn't finished settling.
