Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 31, 2013 11:40 am I finally got around to starting a thread! So we have just completed prestart and are waiting on our final plans. Lucky for me I pretty much had included everything I wanted in the home at PCQ so our prestart bill came in quite low. We are building on a 5 acre lot south of Perth so we decided a long farmhouse design would be ideal but we had trouble finding what we were looking for and ran into a few rude salesman in the process. I'm not sure if its because my husband and I are quite young but we were not treated very well- this is our first build but not our first home. Anyway I stalked the forums for a while and found that for the most part Redink customers seemed overall happy with the quality and customer service. They also had some great inclusions that really sold it for us and our salesman was very good in replying to my emails and getting our plan drawn up PRIOR to us signing- this was something a lot of others refused to do. So this is our basic floor plan although we have made some minor adjustments- just waiting on the amendments to come through Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our selections; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Ill add more! Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 2Jul 31, 2013 11:46 am 5 acres, how lovely (my husband would disagree, he didn't even want 1 acre, too much mowing ). Nice floor plan too. Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 3Jul 31, 2013 12:03 pm thanks! yes we really wanted space....I got tired of hearing our neighbors toilet flush! Our tile choices are light cream gloss with a marble effect... this is what I was going for: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the tile we chose for the laundry and bathroom. You might want to consider getting a different rangehood. The standard one doesn't have good specs. Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 10Aug 06, 2013 10:08 pm Thanks all Rex- is there any reason the range isnt very good? We are still waiting for our new plans to come through- in the meantime I'm organizing our own site works which is really blowing our budget to bits the downsides to building on a large semi rural lot unfortunately. The shire requirements are very tough especially with the effluent system ( since we don't have sewerage) and our pad size is massive. Can't wait for this bit to be over and the slab down!! Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 11Aug 06, 2013 11:24 pm The noise level is higher and the suction power is less than the competition. Read the reviews. I've been stalking your threads too We received the final plans and everything looks pretty good- we want to get them moving so I'll be sending them back ASAP! And then the big wait for shire approval Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 16Aug 23, 2013 10:18 am Well! What a pain things have been We have final loan approval- took longer than expected but that's banks for you. Our main issue with our build is the shire requirements for high water tables- according to shire we need a 600mm pad plus a special ATU system which is costing a scary amount (especially when we have to do a pad for the ATU and then cover it over aswell!) So far all our time has been spent getting the ATU positioned correctly on our plans. Our health approval/permit has gone to shire yesterday and I'm hoping Redink will finally be sending through the building permit request to shire at the same time (I.e today). We have selected the Filtrex system and I must say I'm very happy with the speed of responses and customer service on their behalf. As we are arranging the earthworks, ATU and electrical run in ourselves it really takes the pressure off when they know what they are doing! Fingers crossed we get a speedy approval from the shire Re: Dandy's Redink Build :) 19Sep 19, 2013 7:56 pm Yay!!!! I really like the floor tile you have chosen for the bathroom and we have the same dorf tap for the kitchen! Site costs are a killer in the rural blocks hey! It's depressing when you think how much u could have added to the house with that money! Well, its the lifestyle you are paying for, that's what I keep telling myself! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
