The extra 700mm width will make all the difference to creating a bit more space around your dining table Hope your land is ready soon as I cannot wait to see it being built! Thanks Lucinda BellaButterfly deluxes Absolutely. That raised ceiling was what made us go... Ok! Wow! The Palisade was the same, but just didn't have the same impact as the Sierra in the end. We are also getting the wide stacker doors on the side and going with the 2340mm high ones instead of the 2040mm ones. Really open it up. Yeah that was the wow part for me. My wife had to talk me down and remind me we need two floors. Now i'm doubly excited to see your build. That high ceiling is definitely a wow factor. Love it. Your house will look awesome. Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 65Aug 25, 2013 9:34 pm Thanks! We hope so Well it was enough to make us turn our backs on the custom plan & go with it... Bit of a surprise 180 degree turn, but the gut instict was strong The extra width & the higher stackers will just make it pop and make it exactly what we need/want. Finally! I can't wait but the hard part is the fact we live about an hour from it and I won't be able to stalk its existence. I am going to try and convince my wife to either teach me to drive ( don't judge me i'm a NYer my mother didnt learn to drive until she was 47 ) or convince her we should rent up there. We own our house close to the city outright so the rent from this place would cover rent in Ballarat. And then i can stalk my house daily. How far are you from your build ? What kind of look are you going for? Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is. I had extended family close by who would give me updates though, but it isnt the same We are about 45 mins away now, but are planning on renting nearby as the build nears. HAHA yes! Learning to drive will be a positive thing, living outside of the metro area it does become a necessity. AND you'll be so keen to see your house take shape too! We are going for a lot of earth, stone and timber. I love that look. The front windows are all timber, garage door is timber and front door too. Coffee bamboo floors, tan/stone paint colour and warm features. Using the naturals palette. Tans, browns, deep reds and olives (and wood). yoda the dog That house is beautiful, deluxes! Its a bit different, but think it'll work well on that block and give us a lot of scope. Well we got the letter last week and said that works were all approved and they were starting on time next month, so we'll see how that goes! Set for April/May settlement apparently. But we are more expecting late June... just have to wait and watch i think. Davelle deluxes Now, no more display homes for us. I never thought about driving as much as i have since i moved. We currently have our townhouses about 20 mins from the Melbourne CBD and the train is a very short ride but it drives me crazy when I have to go all the way into the city to take a train our to ballarat. I couldn't even get to our house by public transportation if i tried. Our estate still looks like a farm. I like the earthy look as well but we choose provincial because its at the top of my list. Although there are more changes to be made over the years. I have a post handover list a mile long. Some are short term plans like landscaping other are longer...adding a pool house to the rear of the property and a kids area. Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is. Still, thats exciting too. The french provincial look is gorgeous, it's a quality style that will go perfectly where you're building. Its hard to pick what "theme" to go with, because really you can only pick one! Lots to do! But thats awesome, keeps you going and excited. We are excited with post handover plans too, the build itself is one thing but the ongoing establishment is another Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 72Aug 27, 2013 9:58 pm I think the worse part is not knowing what other houses will be going in as well. Currently the lot next to us on the left is empty but the one on the right just sold. The whole estate is sold up now save for a few and its small with only i believe 69 lots. With the lot sizes being quite large. Most over 1000 squares we figured most people would go with larger houses but then on our last visit the only 3 finished houses were single and very modern. So if everyone goes that route our house would look crazy. So the theme isnt only inside its outside as well. Although there was this one estate we went to that took "theme" too far. I think they were going for a house of 1000 corpses meets the midwest look. I was like really is that a windmill .....please tell me why this person has a rusty stage coach in their front yard . Is that a hay stack and all of these were brand new houses so it looked even crazier. Decorate your home. It gives the illusion that your life is more interesting than it really is. We actually checked out Simonds over the weekend and changed our minds completely when we saw them as well. That high ceiling is to die for! Only thing that stopped us was the width. It would look funny on our 25m width block. We casually wandered across the road to Dechellis and found it! We are going with the 'Wild Orchid'. Isn't it nice to finally find what suits you and you instantly love it without having to modify it too much. We raised our ceilings and had a lowered bulkhead put in over the kitchen. Happy days!!!! Looking forward to hearing more about it. Loving the idea of the palette you are using too Keep calm and build a house Building a custom plan 'Wild Orchid' with Dechellis Homes at Mallala THIS IS OUR JOURNEY... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64597 Re: Mt Barker Build – Bluestone Estate - is now a Simonds Bu 74Aug 29, 2013 9:33 am Thanks Melanie! It totally changed our thinking... We loved the Sierra a few weeeks ago, thought the Palisade might work better, but we realised that the Sierra just had "it". So we went with it. Our Sales guy, Haydn has been nothing short of amazing. We honestly have had the best experience with him & Simonds, and we have spoken to and gotten really in depth with a lot of builders, so thats saying something!! Dechellis are lovely, they were our top pick for who to use if we went for our custom plan. The Wild Orchid is a great house, still on display at Aldinga I think? Anyway, that would fill out a wider block a lot better than the Sierra/Palisade.
