Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 28, 2013 11:39 pm I checked our new home today due to be completed in August. The bottom 1-2 rows around the house are starting to appear green and it looks like mortar in places is almost washed away. I also noticed that the earth is some places just gave way and turned to soft sand. It has been raining for the last few days, with one night a storm. Is this normal on a new home site, Im just concerned about the drainage properties on my block causing long term problems. There are seep holes under retaining wall fence on side of our home into our block from our neighbour - our street slopes slightly. There is a gentle slope down our drive. Im just concerned that if my foot can be swallowed up in soft mushy sand whatwould our concrete pad be doing? not to mention the damp all along our bricks.
