Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 27, 2013 9:08 pm We're in the process of organizing demolition for a house in an established suburb in Melbourne's east. The quotes we've received from demolition companies don't include asset protection for the council. Our concern was, if the company's heavy machinery causes damage to the footpaths, roads of the council, then who is liable? We are happy to loose the 1500 or so for the permit, but are we liable for more costs if there is further damage to roads and other council assets? Can anyone share their views and knowledge on this topic? Re: Council asset protection permit-demolition 2Jul 31, 2013 5:04 pm Hi Happstarz, Best advice I can give – contact council & ask them. It should mention something about this in the asset protection form you fill out. Hope that helps. A Dilapidation Survey is the detailing of pre-existing defects in houses directly next to your build, before construction commencement, so that your neighbor can't claim that the crack on their wall was caused by the heavy machinery being used in your build. 13-08 Moved in 13-05 Build restart 13-04 VMIA compensation 12-08 Builder liquidation 12-03 Fixing 11-12 Lockup 11-11 Frame 11-09 Slab 11-09 Start 11-07 Contract 10-11 2K deposit 10-06 Titled land We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild.
