Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2013 5:55 pm I'm struggling with the layout of the master bedroom for our house... Which one do you like? My issue with number 1 and 4 is the window by the bedroom is going to be a small highlight window because this bedroom is close to the boundary fence and the fence slopes inwards which is why with the bedroom on the other side as in 2 and 3 it is far enough away from the fence that a normal sized window can be allowed. However I think number 1 is my favourite, and it does have a small window on the right side which can be full length. Torn... I would prefer an entrance to the master to actually go into the bedroom part and not have to walk through the WIR like in number 1 and 4 but that would be a personal preference thing. I would probably go number 2. Another option from a plan I loved: This would involve the ensuite being open and not closed off from the bedroom though which I'm guessing isn't your thing with the plans you have drawn up but it is an idea! As your bedroom entrance is in the middle you could have the WIR go all the way down the side Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 4Jul 23, 2013 6:33 pm We decided that the bed and side tables weren't going to fit onto that wall, so we need to change it. I'm also concerned that with just the small highlight window that the room is going to be too dark. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 5Jul 23, 2013 6:42 pm You could just shut off one end of the WIR and place the bed against the window side or the dining side? Doesn't really solve the problem of the window though..I reckon the room would be bright enough with the ensuite being open but you would really want to find a display with just a highlight window to be sure...compare against theatre rooms you have seen? Most of the displays only put highlight windows in them and they seem ok? Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 6Jul 23, 2013 7:58 pm Also just looked at the original. Could you just close the WIR off at one end? And maybe add a window into the WIR so you get light coming from there as well... But if I went with one of the above I would go 2 just because in my head the WIR would block some of the ensuite noise and probably just a personal preference to have it before ensuite.... Though you do get more hanging space with 3... I'd also considering switching the toilet and shower spots in layout 2 so the toilet can have the window. As you have the second window in the ensuite to provide light. Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 7Jul 23, 2013 8:12 pm I would probably go 3. The WiR is larger and you can use artificial light to make it light and the ensuite will make the master larger and lighter especially with the light in the ensuite <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 8Jul 23, 2013 10:21 pm I would just flip the bedroom and ensuite in number 1, then have two vanities (his and her) one either side of entrance. I think his and hers vanities are super luxurious I wouldnt want to walk through the wardrobe to get to the bedroom either. Good luck deciding! Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 12Jul 23, 2013 11:54 pm Trying to work out how to add a bath in our ensuite and doing it like the picture you posted Kat might work without making our ensuite seem abit closed off. What's the plan called and who is the builder? Thanks H1 Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61557 Re: Help with Master Bed Layout 13Jul 23, 2013 11:57 pm I voted #2 but then read the comments. The plan I posted is "The Shorehaven" which is just a lower spec of the display Wow that thing is massive. Nearly the size of my whole block of land. I like the plan tho! Thank you so much.
