Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New Living Homes 771Jun 18, 2018 2:59 pm cherryripe_ pw1923 We are having trouble deciding on brick colours but leaning towards Chiffon, since NLH don't have any light bricks to choose from. What colours are other NLH owners choosing and has anyone gone with a non-standard brick colour? Thanks. We went with Engage. We went to Austral Bricks to have a look at their Everyday range there. The lighting wasn't great at the NLH colour showroom on Spring Farm. Hi Cherry, Do you by any chance have a picture of your house with the engage bricks? We were told we would be getting a clal from the Electrical company- Jade Electrical to discuss our electric plan- what exactly is this? Re: New Living Homes 777Jul 05, 2018 8:44 pm Aariv212 Our site supervisor was Luke and he was really good..Gavin was initial supervisor but only for couple of weeks so cant say much about him.. Thats ok, glad your supervisor was good! I’m guessing you’ve already finished building? We were told we would be getting a clal from the Electrical company- Jade Electrical to discuss our electric plan- what exactly is this? Your electrical plan discussion is your opportunity to talk about things like if and where you might want extra powerpoints. You might want to discuss what sort of light fittings you prefer eg downlights, wall lights, any external spotlights/floodlights, ceiling fans, that sort of thing. Just remember, you don't have to go with the lights Jade offer. You can buy your own online or at a lighting store and just have Jade fit them for you. We bought our downlights online and save a bundle. It can be a bit daunting, especially if you want downlights because they want you to mark on the plan exactly where you want them to go. What we did was look up the virtual tour for our house design and make note of where the lights were located in the display home and went with that. Re: New Living Homes 779Jul 05, 2018 9:09 pm Oh wow! I never expected this! haha, we thought it was already in the plan, they decided where everything went. So with our tender, i think we have 36 LED lights throughout the home, so we choose where they all go? now im a bit confused! Did you have to pay for downlights or did you get extra? Which facade/plan did you choose? Re: New Living Homes 780Jul 06, 2018 2:47 am ZoranaAlex Oh wow! So with our tender, i think we have 36 LED lights throughout the home, so we choose where they all go? now im a bit confused! Did you have to pay for downlights or did you get extra? Which facade/plan did you choose? We built the Kirra with an Elegance facade. Standard light fittings are usually batten style so if you want downlights, that's an extra cost as you have more than one downlight in most rooms. For instance we have 9 LED downlights in the dining/living area. We had to mark on our electrical plan where we wanted those 9 lights located and also how many switches we wanted to operate them and in what sequence. We have 3 light switches to operate 3 rows of 3. We also needed to decide whether we wanted the 3 rows to run north-south or east-west. With powerpoints, New Living Homes allocate a certain number per room and you pay extra if you want to add more or if you want to upgrade a single powerpoint to a double or if you want different coloured covers on your powerpoints. We chose LeGrand Urban Grey for the powerpoint covers in our kitchen and butler's pantry, We purchased our own ceiling fans for the master bedroom and the alfresco (if you do this, make sure the fan is rated for outdoor use). We also chose to have two twin LED tube lights in the garage instead of one single batten light. We have 3 LED sensor downlights under the eaves outside the garage, one on the front porch and one outside the laundry door. We also have sensor floodlights on the side of the garage and off the back of the alfresco. I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me.
