Browse Forums Building A New House Re: New Living Homes 323Dec 15, 2014 3:29 pm Yeh I had my final inspection last week. I spoke with the SS and we came to an agreement to send me the final invoice early. We signed off on it, had the valuer from the bank go and see our house (tiles were just laid fresh last wed) , we finalised the paperwork with the bank and got them to issue us the final payment as a bank cheque which I will hand over on Wednesday once they give me the keys. (Provided we are happy with everything) there were just touch ups and cleaning, shower screens went in today, carpet tomorrow for the bedrooms. Appliances get delivered after u get the keys he told me. The main issue will be getting the bank valuer out there. I have my bank going out on wednesday same thing he wanted the invoice generated early which is already at the bank as we speak. I think if the payments arent recieved by the end of the week we wont get the keys until next year its just really bad timing. Is your house all done? Do you have carpets , garage door etc? My house doesnt have the light put in the painting still isn't done neither is the driveway. They could finish it all in 3 days but it will be a stretch. Let me know if you manage to get in before Christmas. Re: New Living Homes 325Dec 15, 2014 5:45 pm My garage is on, carpet is Wednesday or tomorrow, all electrical and aircon is done. We are on track to be in this week. I reckon you can be in if you have a bank cheque on Thursday. We are down to the wire. We are doing driveway and landscaping ourself as well as fencing. I am hoping to be by this week but I really doubt that will happen Re: New Living Homes 327Dec 15, 2014 6:56 pm I signed H & L with NLH, I am going to pay around $11 K for upgrade which includes 2.6 m high ceiling, bathroom tiles up to ceiling , led lights to living kitchen dinning and master bed,3 fans and fly screen all over window. Total cost of build is $270 ( around 18 square build) + $11K upgrade. Is it worth?? I am not too sure where you are building but I paid much less then that and had quite a bit more inclusions then what you have stated. If you go back a few pages you can see the addons that I included onto my build Re: New Living Homes 329Dec 16, 2014 4:26 am blackenator JnSWILLOWDALE My garage is on, carpet is Wednesday or tomorrow, all electrical and aircon is done. It all happens pretty quickly if you speak with the bank directly. The main thing is letting the SS know that you will have the money for them. I rang my SS once the cheque was in my hand and he ordered my appliances straight away. Re: New Living Homes 332Dec 17, 2014 1:45 pm Well its official I will not be in until next year. I had organized with the builder to have inspection today and he canceled it and re arranged it for next year January 15. I don't mind being in next year just wish they were honest from the start Re: New Living Homes 333Dec 17, 2014 6:09 pm blackenator Well its official I will not be in until next year. I don't mind being in next year just wish they were honest from the start Sorry to hear about that cancellation. I'm sure your house will be great once you're in next year and things aren't rushed. We got our keys today! Everything sort of fell into place with some minor hiccups... Carpet was installed today, painters were doing touch ups, cleaners went to the wrong house and ended up coming late, over door was broken when they opened it out of the box. Dilusso sent a guy this afternoon and they replaced the door straight away. Bricks in the corner had to be redone twice on the weekend and are still to be cleaned. But we are glad to have the keys and our site supervisor really went above and beyond to get us in. Still have a lot of work to complete our house. Driveway fence landscaping grass etc but slowly we will get there. Merry christmas and a happy new year Re: New Living Homes 335Dec 18, 2014 7:37 am Congrats JNS. Enjoy your new home. Are you happy with the quality of the finishes? How long did the build take from commencing work to handover? Re: New Living Homes 336Dec 18, 2014 8:09 am Hey guys thanks heaps. We are very happy with all the finishes. Our house isn't fancy like the display homes with their 600mm floor tiles and their 2.7 ceilings and 40mm waterfall benches, but it really does look and feel like a well finished home. There are minor details that are to be fixed up in the coming days, but our site supervisor did everything possible to have us in by Xmas. Slab was poured around 20th august. Include about 3 weeks worth of delays due to weather and brickies lagging. Around 4-5 months. Not bad I think. Merry Xmas to everyone here and I'll post a few pics after the whole house is finished off with fencing and landscaping in the new year! Re: New Living Homes 338Dec 18, 2014 8:25 am Sounds like a positive experience overall which is great to hear. Makes me feel more comfortable about our decision to go with new living Re: New Living Homes 340Jan 08, 2015 11:14 am Does anyone know when head office opens up again? Is it the same day as the Masterton head office (The 15th) I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same.
