If so, did you go through Masterton to arrange it? Just trying to work out the logistics of how to get it organised. Masterton are doing our ducted vacuum. They have charged us $1450 with three outlets plus one extra outlet at the motor. When we do our electricals I'm going to add another outlet and the vacpan thingy. Yep they sure are, You deal with all of this stuff when you go to choose all your colors and stuff... Go in with a plan we spent 10 grand on electricals alone LOL John, Tarin and the Kids Built and moving in to the Regent Grande with Masterton homes http://thebrownsaremovingtothecountry.blogspot.com Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 84May 23, 2009 5:58 pm Has anyone installed themselves during the build - funds are tight for us so I would like to just get the pipes in the wall. Can you just use normal PVC pipe you buy from bunnings? I watched the installers do the first fix for ours. It's not as simple as you might think, but it's not rocket science either. IMHO the premium for the expertise of a genuinely good installer is well worth the $. You have to have a basic understanding of airflow dynamics at the very least. If you've got the time and patience to do the relevant research, I guess DIY is a money-saver. Cheers zeke Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 86May 24, 2009 10:36 am What happens if something gets stuck in the pipes? Has anyone experienced it yet? Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 87May 24, 2009 10:45 am gettingThere What happens if something gets stuck in the pipes? Has anyone experienced it yet? This is where careful and correct installation is important. If the design is right and the joining sections are all done properly, it's extremely unlikely that anything will ever get stuck. The duct system is much smoother and of larger diameter than the hose. I suspect blockages are so rare that there isn't a standard way of dealing with them. (Blowing the pipes out in the reverse direction doesn't sound like a good idea, though - could be messy ) Cheers zeke Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 88May 28, 2009 8:46 pm I've just been quoted $1,650 (inc gst) for: EVS3505 vacuum unit (2hp Commercial grade motor with 2 year warranty) installed in the garage. 9 metre hose, chrome extendable wand, carpeVtile tool, dusting brush, crevice and upholstery tools. 5 inlet points enabling all parts of the home to be vacuumed. Machine now comes standard with a washable filter. Complementary hose hanger to keep hose and tools neatly stored away (big deal! ) an inlet located on the machine in the carport $195.00 extra for VacuSweep (same as vacpan) in the kitchen Does this sound pretty standard? Has anyone got the EVS3505 vacuum unit? Is it very noisy?? Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 89May 28, 2009 8:57 pm We had ours installed today. The vacpan is white, can you get silver.... Matt, yours is silver..yes? AND I have seen the hose covered in a cushioned sock type cover so they don't scratch the walls, anyone know about these? Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 90May 28, 2009 9:10 pm I have a friend who has ducted in her new home and doesn't have the sock cover - she told me about the new sock cover and said to definitely get it. She showed me the marks on her walls and skirts etc from her hose. Has anyone got the EVS3505 vacuum unit? Is it very noisy?? Hey gT, we are looking at the same vacuum unit as you, by the sounds of it from the same shop too. We went in today to look at it (and importantly listen to it) and it was surprisingly quiet even when the unit was turned on right next to us. When the unit out the back was switched on it was barely noticeable. We are looking at getting the hose with the on/off switch as well for an extra $100. Sounds reasonable so far we think? Has anyone got the EVS3505 vacuum unit? Is it very noisy?? We got some info about this system but in the end we went with Smartvac because of these things they sent me in an email: Smartvac use a patented Gortex self cleaning filter that’s rated at a ten year life. Self cleaning filters have been around for about 8 years and these are able to maintain air flow without “washing” units that require cleaning performance tends deteriorates as you use it. Smartvac has 7-1/2 year warranty They also mentioned that some brands don’t come with mufflers and thought the EVS machines were one of them, theirs do have mufflers and are much quieter. by the way their dustpans thingys are $180 installed Re: DUCTED VACUUMING AND VACPAN 95May 28, 2009 11:09 pm We got ours through Masterton (Sentinel) and ours was $2200 for 2000HP, vac pan + 5 outlets and 1 at the motor (standard), I also got all the extra heads, sock, switched hose and caddy. Can't comment on comparable noise... we tried it at the Home Ideas Centre and while it was reasonably loud (similar to a normal vacuum cleaner) it will be located in the garage so don't know how it will sound while in the house!
