I suppose it all works out in the end as you are still paying the same amount just in different increments. I haven't been past the house today so not sure how many are working on it or if it just this old bloke doing it himself. Might zip past tomorrow after work and see what the progress is. It says: 1. Footings 20% 2. Wall/frame/Roof/frame 25% 3.walls topped/roof cover 15% 4. Lined and ceiled 20% 5. 2nd fix 10% 6. Completion 10% Maybe it depends on who they have as their installers?????? Maybe Hachy's is the old system and Scott's is the new one. Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 66Aug 20, 2013 7:16 pm Just as I thought the gyprocking was started today and the ceiling is almost finished in 1 day. More bricks have been laid and almost 1 whole side of the house is now done. More bricks have been delivered to the front of the house. I did see today you had bricks delivered but no framework yet. I'm really worried about this because the blocks either side of us haven't yet been sold and we have to put fencing in straight away for our dog. We wont' be able to move in unless we have fences. Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 72Aug 21, 2013 12:37 pm _lucinda Jo, did the whole fence have to come out? I'm really worried about this because the blocks either side of us haven't yet been sold and we have to put fencing in straight away for our dog. We wont' be able to move in unless we have fences. Hi Lucinda, Scott actually has fences both sides to his house right to the front boundary line as they had both moved in whilst all the paperwork was going through for the land purchase. The neighbour to the left has not bothered, so far, to contact Scott re payment but Scott had to approach the one on the right hand side as that is where the carport had to go, right on the boundary. He was a bit concerned but he had the encumbrances on his side as it was a condition that the build went there. The neighbour was quite good about it as long as Scott paid half of his quote then he was happy for Scott to have the fencing that was removed and he could use it for his back fence. They have a vacant block behind them and that owner has refused to do any fencing at all for the whole street. So it did all work out in the end. All they need to do now is fix the gaps where it doesn't quite meet. Lucky Scott's FIL is very handy and he is helping Scott fix it all up and put his back fence up as well. I think the neighbour on the left hand side must be happy to pay for the lot as nothing has been mentioned and I think by law time has expired for him to approach Scott. Mind you Scott was not obligated with the right hand side neighbour either to pay him but he did it to be neighbourly and he was worried that they might cause some grief. I must say we were all worried he would end up with different coloured fences on either side and knew that he couldn't do a thing about it!! But as luck had it they had the same colour monument on both sides and this was the colour he wanted!! I am not 100% sure of the process about informing potential neighbours you want half of the cost of the fencing and if they need to build on the joining boundary so maybe you need to check that out on how to go about it. I have an idea of the way it works but I don't think I know the whole process to advise you. Has your son got a water bill, we got one today but we are a little confused. The bill states that we are not connected however there is a supply charge and also a sewer connection charge. ?? Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 75Aug 22, 2013 7:30 pm Yes he got his water bill as well. Scott is connected as they have been using the water for the brick laying. I think you still get a bill as the water pipes run past your house even if you are not connected. I have heard of people who have vacant blocks of land still get charged water and sewerage even though there is no house just because it runs past the land. Has your timber been delivered yet?? I didn't go past tonight as it was raining so much but will tomorrow to see how much gyprocking has been done. I dunno how considering were not connected to anything. maybe it's for when it is to be connected? Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 77Aug 22, 2013 8:06 pm Yeah, I think we have to pay regardless of whether we're actually connected or using the service. It is the responsibility of the land owner, so as soon as we own our land (or the bank does) we have to pay the rates and services bills. Are you read to build Asa22? Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 78Aug 22, 2013 8:19 pm Ok well at least the water bill is normal. Yes we had our timber and bricks delivered yesterday but not much done today just a couple of wall frames made up. My wife drove past and said there was lots going on in Scott's house. Been a little wet out there though so I suppose I can forgive our chippys. Re: Hickinbotham build progress so far 79Aug 22, 2013 8:53 pm The frames must have been delivered after 4.30 as they weren't there when I went past Asa22!!
