Thanks Lucinda, Scott is mortified though as the overhead cupboards are not right. The right hand overhead cupboard next to the door should have corner shelving alongside of it. They have made the cupboard wider and not put in the corner shelving!! He is not a happy chappy at the moment!!! He has sent an email last night requesting it be fixed immediately and will not compromise on this either as he has had to change his kitchen plans earlier with them. I personally hate those corner shelves--more to dust and clean, and due to my obsessive desire to have everything looking neat and tidy, I've only ever used them for ornaments, nothing practical. They do look nice though and I understand why he would be upset after expecting to have them. Hope they can fix it for him. Must admit I'm nervous about my kitchen layout too. It was all done by exchange of emails with my bad sketches, and their rough layout, which I couldn't really piece together to see exactly what was what. And the final depends on measurement once the walls are in place anyway, so I expect there will be some issues that will irk me. Re: Hickinbotham build progress - Kitchen is in 133Sep 18, 2013 11:10 am I had the corner shelves in my newly renovated kitchen due to wanting overheads, which I didn't previously have, and had the corner shelves put in due to having to really as it would have looked odd without them, and Kelly really liked them and they also had them in the show house and they did look good. It was on the plans as well that they sent Scott after having to change the layout so I am not sure why they would have changed it at all ...bit puzzling really. I hope yours turns out ok as well It is funny how the kitchen is the centrepiece of everything and probably the only thing that most people fret over so much!! It's funny when I built with Hickies all those years ago, I never remember discussing how the kitchen would be set up? Just said I wanted overheads and picked the colours. I did have those corner shelves, and 2 of the overheads had clear glass panels? I never asked for them, but didnt really mind either... looked quite nice compared to other standard kitchens of the time. I honestly had no idea of how it would look until the day it was installed! Hope he gets it sorted out the way he wants, it's so much better that you can choose how it'll be these days. Afterall, you are paying for it and you might as well have it the way you want it right from the word go! All the plans had been signed and all was good until the company who build the kitchens informed them it would not all fit in the area of the kitchen, even though all looked good on the plans they signed. The kitchen company came up with a new design for them, keeping in mind what they wanted and they agreed. There were emails back and forward with the plans and models of the suggestions and all looked good, so it is really hard to understand how they can actually change it. Now that I am thinking about it I hope the space for the fridge is still 1 metre and they haven't changed that as then they will be in real trouble as the fridge won't fit. Hickies have not even bothered to contact him yesterday by phone or email to even acknowledge anything and when he rang he got the usual "she is not at her desk I will leave her a message to call you" and did they.... No of course not!!! Disappointing!!!! No one ever rang me back. Ever. I had a major issue with the septic tank (first issue, it was never allowed for in the contract - so I got a $9,500 variation, 2nd issue, it didnt need a $9,500 envirocycle unit, a regular STEDS system at $4,200 was sufficient). They were quite happy to mail out the variation but no one seemed available to talk about it! I did all the leg work with the council and they told me the $9500 system was overkill and the cheaper one was more than ok. My ex wound up driving to the Hickies office and waiting there until someone came out to discuss it... it had been 2 weeks of daily phone calls with no one returning them. Anyway, seems not much has changed in that department! Their customer service is horrendous. I'm so sorry he is having issues and i do hope they are resolved quickly. Mine were solved in the end, but it was really stressful just being fobbed off all the time and made the whole thing worse Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Hickinbotham build progress - Kitchen is in 139Sep 19, 2013 12:50 pm I understand exactly where you are coming from!! And I also find it frustrating as I work in Customer Service and would never treat a Customer like that. Even just an acknowledgement email is better than nothing at all!! Good on Hubby but that is not acceptable that you have to do that!! Fingers crossed he hears something today. Ok Scott just heard from them as I was typing and has been told their house will be ready in 6 weeks and she will look into the kitchen and get back to him. At least now he knows that they know about it. They have an inspection in 3-4 weeks and the Site supervisor will be in contact(who has never contacted them this whole time). That's so soon. How exciting! I'm sure the kitchen issue will be resolved. It's good that the site supervisor hasn't had to call--all must have gone smoothly. I've found the system to be okay, but it does take following up sometimes. I agree, they don't call back, but usually I've had responses to emails, or emails to follow up a question that hasn't been answered. 8 6137 5 6812 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17587 |
