kly525 Our Solar hotwater heater also cost a bit over $3600, however if you want solar panels to run appliances you'll need panels plus an inverter which will cost between $6,000 - $10,000 depending on the size of system you want.

NJC congrats!

Thanks Gibson. I think in the long run it works out cheaper. We currently pay gas & electricity here and it's about $800-$900 a quarter.
Do you make the choices at the electrical apt? Not sure I want M to do the solar panels as they'll end up charging more i assume??

I wouldn't get solar panels from M, you are better off shopping around for a solar specialist.
If you want to find out more about solar check out the tech forum at whirlpool. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/143

sandra 2016
Congrats NJC. Hope your move goes well.

We only just got our interim oc this week.

I have no words to describe masterton homes that are good. They cant get their **** together literally when you find out that your sewer is not even connected to one of your toilets. Come on morons does no one check things before you lay the bloody slab ffs what is a SS for.

Seems they admitted the certificate you get to say it complys is cow manure too seems these people are to busy to come and check and someone is signing off on these without checking tradies work. I have a certificate that means jack, the work was not done. The plumber all of 22 screamed the f word loud enough on his 10minute convo to another college seems then we had 5 plumbers over my house knee deep in the blame game.

Shower also overflows probs not connected either.

They want to rip 2 meters of my new concrete up to try and sort it out.

Water tank doesn't work at all.

Tv aerial connections not working.

No expansion joins on our living tiles.

The list of incompetence goes on and on

IF YOUR THINKING OF BUILDING WITH THESE CLOWNS DONT BOTHER

That's no good Sandra. Our TV ports didn't work until about a week later when they came back and connected the data points and the hub. Have they done that yet?

Thanks I'll check out the link. Not sure how it'll affect basix since there is no longer a gas connection.. does anyone know?

Our Basix cost $9k, you don't get any itemisation of what goes in to your ratings so there's no way to tell what the impact of all electric vs gas is.

Congratulations MartinsHarmony - looks great!

Just wondering about the progress payment schedule.. if you upgrade things after your final tender (electricals) does the progress payment get updated? Or perhaps all these "extras" were covered in your provisional allowance? Just curious about how this works.

Good to see you are progressing MartinsHarmony.

I am going to build the Harmony Elite - Option B - Grande Resort Suite with Garage on RHS with Ivy Facade.

I would be interested in what your choices were in colours and fittings etc as I have not had my appointment yet but want to be prepared for when I do. I built with Masterton back in 2011 but sold that so building with them again. That time I went to Warwick Farm and spent half day there choosing all internal options and then discussed the electrical's via email and telephone. Back then I did not have the choice to modify my kitchen. I think this time I can meet with the kitchen people. Not sure if that is same time as colours. I want to have a wall oven rather than under bench and Microwave above that. Possibly look at Neff and getting my own. Still deciding on that.
I am waiting for my land to register in Calderwood Valley NSW which at the moment is about August 17. Although it was supposed to be January 17 so will see when that happens.

Woo hoo!!! That's excellent!

We have been washed out for a week. The plumber came today but the site is such a mess from all the rain there wasn't much he could do!

ms_jd - your final payment schedule is updated when you are validated. A new schedule will be issued that takes into account the final figure, with all your upgrades/selections.

beeprelude - Yes, the rain has certainly been a hurdle for us. Our frame was delivered on the 10th but we've had to wait for clear weather. So frustrating after the sunny, hot summer that we've experienced!!! After all the problems and delays we've encountered with our project, this past wet week felt like the rain gods were now having a lend of me.

CathyP - We too have the Ivy facade, although we modified it a little to include some planking.
Selections was overwhelming ... so many decisions. I wanted neutrals for the big ticket items, as I'm going for a coastal colour palette my selections were mostly greys/whites/blues.
EXTERNAL
Bricks - PGH Stone with flush off white mortar
Windows - Pearl White
Roof - Colorbond Surfmist
Fascia & Guttering - Dune
Rainwater Tank - Dune
Garage Door - Tuscan Woodgrain in Surfmist
Front Portico - upgraded to include having this tiled in a textured, stone look tile
Front Door - Savoy XS45 (vertical stripe glass panels) painted Taubmans Lake Louise (bright teal). Vertical glass panels upgraded to textured 'Africana' glass.

INTERNAL
Floor Tiles - Greta White 450x450
Carpet - 'Zest' in colour Dynamo
Underlay - upgraded to 10mm gold foam
Walls - Taubmans June Fog
Trim & all internal doors - upgraded to have painted Taubmans Crisp White
Doors - HAG11 (vertical indents/stripes on doors)
Feature Door/s - upgraded to frosted glass french door on WIP and Laundry
Wardrobe doors - upgraded to Smartrobe sliding doors, painted Crisp White
Cornice - upgraded to Square Set in all living areas. Cove cornice in bedrooms.
Benchtops - upgraded to Ash Grey Quantum Quartz
Kitchen Splashback - upgraded to 75x300 handmade gloss white tile laid brickbond
Lower kitchen cabinets and drawers - Matt White (with brushed chrome handles)
Upper kitchen cabinets - Ravine texture in Maison Oak (with tipon catches)
Recessed Rangehood
900mm Smeg Freestanding Cooker
Standard sink
Only kitchen layout upgrade was to include the slide out bins (we had two sets of pot drawers included by sales agent).
We upgraded tiles in Ensuite and Main Bathroom (used feature tiles not in the standard range) but kept everything else the same in terms of layout and vanity.

Anything else, just ask. I found it less overwhelming to have a colour palette to stick to - narrows the options instantly.

Gibson
Thanks Brettbert.
We chose our kitchen nearly a year ago now. Excited to be able to see what it looks like soon.

We chose ours in April 2015. We are coming up to pci in a couple of weeks. All getting exiting now. We had a delay in land rego and then drafting before they could commence building in September last year.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is very helpful. I want to be prepared with my list of ideas for the day so I have an idea of what I want as I know it can get very confusing and it is great to see what you have chosen.
The bones of our dream home continues to take shape.
Really appreciated the sunshine and hardwork of our carpenters today!

MartinsHarmony - How exciting to see the frame up. You get to see the size of the rooms in person instead of on paper. Fingers crossed the rain holds off for you.
CathyP you're brave using M again!

Martinsharmony congrats and look forward to seeing it come together

Just when we start to dry up and the promise of being able to get the plumbing started the storms hit again ! We have a swimming pool instead of a slab!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of Masterton claiming rainy day extensions after the contract period? Is it the case that as long as they haven't handed over the house they can continue to claim extensions? Our contract period of 210 days has ended already and we aren't even at lock up. But due to the recent rain in Sydney, Masterton has been claiming rain delays. This of course reduces the number of days they have to pay. Just wanted to see if this is standard practice?
