We went through the same problem when a SS quit , the area manager took over for a while but very little happened until a new SS started. Our build is 6 months overdue, we are waiting for the last of the appliances to be installed. Hang in there! I know a lot of people on here highly recommend. We have been very happy with the quality of trades, our SS has been really good, approachable and helpful and we've visited our site every day of the build, so we were happy and confident to not recruit the services of a private inspector. If you are having a change over of SS I could see an independent inspector helpful, in case something was overlooked? We too had our wet areas tiled, then a gap in trades as internal/external painting, then electrical & plumbing fit off and then main floors tiled. I have heard tilers up our way are flat chat. We've gone roughly a month over contract. And I feel your pain with trying to coordinate and arrange post-handover items when the end date is so unclear. It might be worth obtaining some sort of suggested end date from your new SS, and then set about securing dates with your chosencompanies. If you use the new SS suggested end date and your home is still not complete, the new SS may be flexible and grant access even though handover has not occured? I came across this forum while trying to dig up some more realistic photos of certain finishes (bricks etc.). We started our Masterton journey earlier in March this year (Jordan Springs East - Llandilo) as a home+land package, with the Concerto 12.5. Things were going relatively smoothly with the tenders, drafting etc. but we've recently hit a snag. We've only now been advised our sewerage drain is too close to the 4th bedroom at the back which needs to be moved, reducing our Alfresco in half (currently battling with Masterton on the new tender). If anyone else is building this house, give me a yell - I would love to check out some progress pics and any other Masterton heads-up that I need to be aware of. Cheers, Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14105Aug 28, 2017 6:34 pm Hi all Our garage door and electrical fitout was done today! I'm assuming our floors will be next? How long was it for those who are finished/almost finished from this point to the end??? The plumber the other day said probably a month. But I don't believe it will be so quick! http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14106Aug 28, 2017 7:08 pm Welcome van88. I've found this forum super helpful while on our building journey. I've really appreciated the opinions and ideas of others on here. We are building the Harmony Elite, I think Shell90 just built the Concerto. beeprelude - our floor tiles started on August 4th. We had PCI last Tuesday, anticipating keys this week. Stay tuned. The corner planking at the front of our house was finally painted today. We had a delay with a bracket to fix the last board to the rest of the planking ... so while everywhere else has been painted, the front corner has stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm so pleased with how the facade has come together. They were so much cheaper than the big chains like Kresta, plus they manufacture here. How much should we over budget on the quoted set price? 30k 50k 100k I'm guessing the list of possibilities is endless but I'm just looking for a very open " hey it's going to cost and extra ... min" before we officially sign? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14114Sep 10, 2017 6:38 pm We are about $140k over the base price. And that's with bare minimum upgrades or extras http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14115Sep 10, 2017 10:47 pm beeprelude We are about $140k over the base price. And that's with bare minimum upgrades or extras http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Is that with a KDR? What has added so much cost, do you think that's a standard new home thing that everything is just under quoted ? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14116Sep 11, 2017 6:15 am Beware the kdr! Our quote/estimate went from $17k to nearly $30k last April. Worst week of our lives! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 14117Sep 11, 2017 9:20 am Some of the things you need to consider with the build of a kdr... -the knock down. Hidden asbestos, rock etc will cost you extra. -you may need a different type of slab due to soil conditions. This can add a few k. -drop edge beams. The slightest slope and you will need one. Adds a few k. -facade. You don't get the facade as on the display home. Glass, render, timber stain etc is all extra in addition to the cost of the facade shape. So you will potentially pay 20k for a facade and then another 10k for the render, glass etc. -upgrades. A/c and electrical are the big ones that are almost impossible to avoid. Budget a few k. -if you live on a busy road, traffic management is extra. -if they hit rock, removal is extra. -if you want full height tiling in all your bathrooms, add a few k. -And don't forget flooring, window coverings, landscaping.. I am building the Harmony Elite Option B - Grande Resort Suite. I am putting together my ideas ready for when I have my colour appointment. I have been told Masterton use Don's Tiles does anyone know if there is a better website than I have found so I can put my selection together so I can be prepared when I have my appointment. I know Beaumont Tiles have a really good website can we use them instead. I am located at Calderwood which is south of Wollongong NSW. We used tiles direct for ours but that's mainly because we are closer to them than dons. You can go in to dons and have a look around to get ideas. They have a big range.
