Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13981Jul 26, 2017 3:37 pm It's official! We are at lock up! The bench tops were all installed yesterday (installer invited me in) and carpenters were here today putting doors on! Martins harmony I loveeee you cabinetry! Looks amazing! Yours too Rox82! We have a freestanding bath too, plumbing is different to yours but I'm assuming yours is like this as it's the first floor and would have something to do with access. Lostcourse, just to let you know when have had our shower drain issue reticfied! It has now all been sealed. I will send pics once I get some! So news for us, we had PCI last week on Thursday, with only a few minimal items outstanding, and today I met our supervisor on site to see that everything has been completed! Big pat on the back to him, he has actually been FANTASTIC throughout! So now we are waiting for accounts to do up the final claim, followed by the bank to do their inspection and make payment. My fingers are crossed that we can push this all through quickly and have the keys in our hand next week, however I'm thinking if we don't just scrape in, it will be the following for sure!! Yep, they said they just introduced it as the gift Nd we were one of the first 2 weeks back. Quite a nice set - heavy and nicely weighted M have been working hard to fix up our (very long) list of issues without being unreasonable (so far). It's amazing how much rework gets done. Every single trade that's come out in the last week has found some of their work damaged or compromised by other tradies and requiring rework and a follow up trip. Such a waste of everyone's time and money. These guys all seem to be quality but don't seem to have much respect for each other (or M - some of it seems to be to spite M). Vicious cycle. I hate seeing so much waste, even if it's not my money. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13987Jul 27, 2017 1:58 pm The fence is coming down tomorrow and then we can start getting our Tradies in for the final touches. Whilst I love our house, it's not perfect, some of the horrible workmanship annoys me. Plus having to wait nearly a year to get things that were outstanding from PCI is ridiculous...poor communication, poor turn around times, poor customer service and poor quality all around Hope your issues are fixed everyone. Keep going to fair trading as it's what finally got our issues sorted I second this, we had nightmare build with M, went to OFT few times, even after OFT order they did not finish rectifying the issues within allowed time frame. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13989Jul 27, 2017 3:55 pm Gibson Fun fact, according to the standard building contract the builder can set when PCI occurs and determine for themselves that there are no major defects, then issue a PCI progress payment claim. So our liquidated damages have stopped accruing as at the PCI regardless of whether we sign the PCI or not. Now M can take however long they want to finish the build without any penalty. Gibson, their standard building contract does not cancel your consumer rights. Whatever they put in their contract, which violates your consumer rights is invalid. Our SS told me the same BS about them being able to issue PCI claim, but I refused to sign PCI until they fixed some issues and they did not issue the claim and our liquidated damages continued. Just need to be firmer with them or they can take advantage of you. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13990Jul 27, 2017 4:06 pm MrsRose Hi Gibson, PCI has to be only minor defects and omissions. Such works should only take 10-14 days and must mean that your house is able to be lived in safely. If Masterton can't complete in 14 days file a complaint with OFT. That will give them tight deadline to complete all tasks (don't make any timeframe agreements with tradies, make them deal only with OFT). If you're disputing PCI make sure you put it in writing and specify the major defect or omission, keep counting your liquidated damages until that defect or omission is fixed and include it in your claim to OFT. Completely agree, OFT can help M come to their senses. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13991Jul 27, 2017 4:19 pm MartinsHarmony Hey guys, can someone tell me, the ceiling light fittings that M provide as standard, are they bayonet or screw fittings? I've come across some cheaper LED bulbs and thought I might grab a few ready for move in. Don't want to buy the wrong fitting. Thanks. They are bayonet, total waste of time and money. We were supposed to have LED down lights and those light points made it much harder to make the downlight holes: instead of drilling them, the electrician had to to cut them out manually. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 13992Jul 27, 2017 8:42 pm Hello Everyone, Great to see some awesome progress shots Rox82 & beeprelude. Congrats Gibson, the cutlery set looks nice. Way to go Shell90 ... looks A-MAZING. Fingers crossed you get across the line tomorrow. We have had a flurry of activity. We are now in Liquidated Damages, so I'm thinking there is a bit of motivation to get us finished. We are all painted, electrician was apparently there today, plumber booked for tomorrow and floor tiles next week. I think the current guesstimate is PCI the following week. What items are not likily to be installed at PCI? I understand that after PCI they have up to 10 days before hand over of keys? Are appliances then not installed till after handover? Now we have the keys the real fun begins. When we selected tiles we didn't ask for full height Ike's in the bathrooms. We decided on that later so we went back to Don's and bought more tiles to match. Don's didn't warn us what problems that would cause. We can't find a Tiler who will do the job now as all the bathroom fittings are in place and they don't want to be responsible for the tiles already laid or damage to the fixtures. We are hoping Don's will be able to come back in now and do something. Argh.
