Yep, this is why I think ours is Masterton's stuff up, but since there are so many of them, it may require them to bring down the whole wall, which is costly. Hence the vague responses and attempts to drag time. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12605Nov 09, 2016 1:27 pm We have slight colour variation in our bricks. Austral and PGH both warn that due to the manufacturing process (natural clay and kilns) colours can vary. Our SS said M order all bricks for a build in 1 firing & have the brick co put undelivered bricks aside until required. Our SS said M order all bricks for a build in 1 firing & have the brick co put undelivered bricks aside until required. We have major colour variation and I don't trust a single word our SS is telling me, as it proved to be not true so many times. 2014 30/05 $3900 25/08 Contracts 02/10 DA submitted 2015 17/02 DA approved 02/04 Colors 10/04 Demo 09/07 Construction start 27/07 Fill 15/08 Slab 21/09 Frame 2016 08/01 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12608Nov 10, 2016 6:30 am NJC Did your mortar go whiter when the bricks dried Fisher75? Ours is stone. No real variation, even across the 2 batches of deliveries, but being wet makes it darker. The mortar definitely gets a lot lighter as it dries over the first couple of weeks. I'll try for a pic tonight showing initial and current. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12609Nov 10, 2016 8:39 am Mortar does get lighter. Our SS reckons our house will be finished by the 20th. No word on PCI yet. Aircon vents went in yesterday. That has me a bit worried, how long have all your builds taken? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12617Nov 10, 2016 4:59 pm Where abouts Jess_95? There are a few of us from Newcastle on here. We are doing a knock - down rebuild in Lake Macquarie. Which home are you looking at building? We are only literally days into our construction ordering period ( an exyra 20 workings before the actual contract Construction period commences). Our Pre Construction stage was crazy ... 15 months getting our plans right and our DA through Lake Mac Council. But the constant delays are mostly attributed to our build being classed as a Dual Occupancy - and everybody wanting extra regulation on these types of developments. We are building a single story home + detached granny flat but GF is larger than 60sq meters. Hence why we are unfortunately deemed a Dual Occupancy. I won't lie, Pre Construction for 15 months has been hands down the MOST STRESSFUL 15 months of my life. But the constant delays were not entirely Masterton's fault. The Council DA took 14 weeks and there was a lot of prep work prior to DA submission. Drafting of Construction Plans and any amendments to said plans was a painful process. I thinking the drafting team must really be under the pump. We had an AMAZING Pre Construction Coordinator at Mastertons Head Office (Warwick Farm). She saw us through all the drama & ongoing delays. I couldn't speak highly enough of the Sales staff at Thornton - really knowledgeable people. I think Masterton build a good product. For us it was the floor plan that we fell in love with. We looked and looked and looked at every other project builder display, and some private builders, but we didn't find anything that had the 'flow' that the Harmony Elite offered. I'm lucky to be building at the same time as two work colleagues, and just comparing what Masterton offer as standard and in the Mansion Package, I think we got a really good deal. Thank you so much for your reply! We will be building in the new hunter valley town Huntlee so we will deal through the Thornton office. We are actually looking at building the harmony elite as well Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 12619Nov 10, 2016 5:14 pm Oh, I've been pestering hubby to go on a day trip to check out Huntlee. I'm intetested to check it out. Our contract is for 130 working days build time (so I'm saying 26 weeks?). From what I've heard that is pretty timely compared to other builds. My two work colleagues have 34 and 37 week builds with Mc Jones & Beechwood. Quite a few builds on here have gone over contract time. Interestingly, I think they have all been double story builds. So I'm not sure if that indicates that double story are trickier to get across the line on time. I think there are a couple of single story builds on here that have been completed a few weeks ahead of time. From reading this forum, I think build time is very dependant on your Site Supervisor (SS). And of course there are always other variables out of our control - weather events/availability of trades. I agree with Fisher75 - if it's something about your build that is important to you ... get it in writing. Good advice for any super large purchase! Are you going to do a blog that maybe I could follow as we might be building the same house?
