Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11901Aug 09, 2016 2:25 pm GillyM at pci, you and your ss go through the house noting anything that isn't finished, isn't finished well/properly, or is damaged. Take coloured masking tape and put a piece next to anything that should be rectified. Go through the house room by room, opening/closing doors, checking out the finish on everything. Be as meticulous as possible. Check for chips in benches or doors. Check the paint finish - that's one place they often have defects. Your ss isn't there to show you any issues, you need to do that..... he's there to write it down and you both sign off on what is to be rectified. After pci, an m person will also be going through the house with an extremely fine tooth comb and (for us) he picked up on soooooo much more than we did. He used purple tape (we had used pink) and after he left, the house looked like it had purple measles! I found the hardest part about PCI was trying not to be so excited about getting to that point and being able to just be in our house, that it was hard to be completely analytical about it! Thanks GillyM that's fantastic info... I'm hoping we get the same m guy then since we are in the same area Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11902Aug 09, 2016 7:08 pm FINALLY some work at our house today. What do you mean paint it? How did they paint it? Has it fixed your shower grout problem? The man that came said he can't fix it but he said he will send his supervisor. Did you pay for it. I don't mind paying if it going to solve the problem. Sorry for the all the questions but this grout situation is terrible and I want them to fix it while I have the chance. There is a special paint which gets painted on the grout - a man has to spend hours on his hands and knees with a tiny brush. It is a good solution, our grout is all now the right colour. Redwynne had to have it done as well. And M pays, not you, so don't worry about that. What colour grout did you have by the way? Tends to be a common problem with the darker grouts (where it is more noticeable). Thanks Villinaeliters, I'll mention it to the supervisor. Hopefully they won't take to long to come back. Thanks for all your help today and along the construction journey Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11905Aug 10, 2016 9:16 am Has anyone picked the legato matte white for their cupboards? Artline were Trying to talk me out of it and into the gloss finish. I just prefer the matte look! http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11906Aug 10, 2016 10:41 am Yes we have that in our bathrooms. I prefer matte too as finger prints are less obvious https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11907Aug 10, 2016 10:42 am MGardz Yes we have that in our bathrooms. I prefer matte too as finger prints are less obvious https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ I know you've not long been in your house, but do you find it gets dirty easier? That's why they told me to go gloss. It's gets dirtier! http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11908Aug 10, 2016 12:10 pm Pfft what a load of rubbish. No it doesn't. Gloss would be worse as when you touch it or steam gets on it and you wipe it you see the swirls more. https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11909Aug 10, 2016 12:11 pm MGardz Pfft what a load of rubbish. Will you have a range hood ? Was that $6000 for the laundry and pantry as well ? Did you get the bins ? You almost have no splashback. Will you have a range hood ? Was that $6000 for the laundry and pantry as well ? Did you get the bins ? Range hood is over the centre island and is on another image. $6000 includes laundry sink but not pantry. We had to upgrade the over and stove to built in so it could go on the island bench. Upgrade cupboard height etc. soft close to all, pot draws etc. We decided against the bin. We ll sort out something later, couldn't justify $650 for it! Yes minimal splash back in our kitchen. I work for a glass Company so hoping that might be something I can sort out. http://preludehome.tumblr.com/ Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 11915Aug 10, 2016 8:05 pm Sometimes I just wish m had a checklist or something which showed the order and things to be done so then you could work out how far along in the build process you are.
