Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10593Apr 21, 2016 7:42 pm Hi all, thanks for sharing your experiences(good/bad). Very helpful specially for the first timer like me. We will have our colour appointment in 2 weeks and carpet and tiles appointment a few days before our colours. Does any one have any idea how much is the upgrade for tiles and carpet? Did you guys use ark finishing as well for your blinds? Thanks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10594Apr 21, 2016 7:45 pm S-VE michelle1980 S-VE They've started our bricks today. We paid $9000+ to upgrade our bricks and they've taken it upon themselves to do our front parapet that's being rendered in some other plain brick. I wonder if I'll get refunded the difference between standard and my "gold" upgraded brick ? Someone in here done PGH Nickel Flash brick. Who was it ? I want to ask you a question about how it should be mixed. Hate to say it but I doubt it. We have our whole house being rendered and the whole house has been common bricked, they apparently take the difference in cost into consideration when giving u the render quote. All areas that are moraka or render will usually be done in common bricks . Our bricking took less than 2 weeks (we were very lucky and had absolutely no rain and they were on site every day) hopefully you will have the same luck. So far during the build I can't complain about anything, we have had a great SS and tradies That's is great! You're building in Lake Macquarie aren't you ? If your whole house is being rendered then of course you'd only use common brick and not get any refund. We have paid for our entire house to be done in the upgraded brick. I remember our sales lady telling us we could ask to have the parapet done in standard brick to saves some $$ then I completely forgot about asking until after colours. We are building in the Illawarra. Fingers crossed our great run continues!!! Ask the question. See what they say. No harm in asking. Our SS has been really good, even tho we only had common bricks he asked if we could drive past and just check that the bricks that were delivered were the right ones before they started. I thought that was really nice and thinking ahead to save problems later. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10595Apr 21, 2016 8:05 pm Welcome to the newbies I hope your experience is much better then mine... aaron_online upgrade costs on tiles will vary we wanted a polished porcelain tile which Dons wanted to charge $12,000 to upgrade we have purchased the same tile for $1400 from TFO and our tiler will charge $4500 to lay but again it depends on what you are wanting to upgrade. Can't help with carpet as we did not get it with M. Ark were expensive also, you can get it cheaper but they are convenient. We have decided we can't fight with Dons about the tiles they have decided tiles are right and M have washed their hands of it so we are sticking with the ones laid, we just can't handle anymore delays, we have had another week of no work so I feel I have hit the bottom this week very much over it. Hoping for some good news soon so I can post something positive instead of negative. We ended up being credited back for our tiles as it was going to cost us another $5000 to tile the places that weren't included (dining/living room, study, alfresco and front patio). It's going to end up costing us less to purchase the tiles ourselves and my brother is laying them for us. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10597Apr 21, 2016 8:23 pm NJC Fingerscrossed - we went and did our contracts at our sales office and they are open all weekend! Paid our 5% via direct deposit whilst I was sitting there too! Thanks NJC......thankfully M's clients are helping each other Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10598Apr 21, 2016 8:25 pm Welcome Newbies, I also hope your experience is better than ours. SVE it should also be in the tender and colours document that's it's commons. But yay on your progress! Fingers crossed we also did it at the sales office. They like taking your money so make it pretty easy in that regard... Aaron depends what tier you choose your tiles and carpet from. The included tier is about $35m2 and there are two or three more tiers on top. Then it depends if you want to extend your flooring beyond the included area Masterton give you. We had to extend it into the alfresco, study and theatre. Your sales person can give you the plans to show you what's included. And then you also have to consider if you want to extend your wall tile heights too. Then there's the cost of how you want to lay the tiles and if you want to grout match. I've got some info on my blog if that helps. We choose to go elsewhere for shutters as ark is really expensive WKVillina I hope it improves next week. I don't think we had much work after the painters nothing today and yesterday again... https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10600Apr 21, 2016 8:54 pm Fingerscrossed We went to warwick farm to sign contract.
