Can M claim rain days for days where it was forecasted and never actually rained ? Or is it just days that it actually rains before 3pm ? I know they have to inform us in writing within 14 days if they want to claim rain days. 2 other slabs were being poured today when I did my drive by. No one doing anything at our block. I know I should probably get used to the delays. redwynne - I'm interested to see what the cabinet looks like from the outside. Our top chute the cabinet is being made out of the same stuff the vanity door is done in so they match. The bottom chute is some standard cabinet in a similar colour to the floor tiles. I wonder how long it would take to fill the chute from top the bottom. I could just imagine me having a busy week and opening the bottom door and have this huge mountain of dirty laundry come flying out Building4my3tots - Have you also put in a chute ? Where are your upstairs and downstairs cabinets located ? The lady who done my colours up here in Newcastle had never had any clients put in chutes. Our top one is in our main bathroom, so the kids bathroom which is just outside our bedroom. bleaky - Can't wait to see flooring pics. You are getting hardwood as well right ? For the slab they prob can claim rain days as if rain is forecasted and they did pour the slab it could cause issues. Apparently it's a disaster if u get heavy rain in the 24hrs after pouring as is extremely hot temps. This is prob the reason they have not poured. Although it's frustrating for you it's probably best as at least u know your slab will be ok when it is poured. Better this than them having to fix the slab if they did get rain Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10027Mar 18, 2016 1:34 pm S-VE you should know by now that M can do anything they choose to do!! The day they did all our second story cladding (a full day's work ) they claimed as a rain day. It did rain all day but obviously our SS had absolutely no idea what was happening on site!! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10028Mar 18, 2016 2:17 pm Michelle1980 i'm not sure if that rain business within 24 hours of being slabbed is true. We had torrential rain the evening of our pour (the thunderclouds were there in the morning at the time of the pour), & it rained non stop for 7 days! Slab was fine. When our pool was poured, we were actually asked to start "watering" it in the first 24 hours to prevent cracking. So rain is good for new concrete, as far as i am aware (have never heard the 24 hour rule before). But i guess we need a concreter to tell us the "real" story! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10029Mar 18, 2016 4:57 pm Concrete gives off heat as it sets and it will even set underwater, it's not the being wet that is the problem it is the action of heavy rain on its surface. http://www.concreteconstruction.net/con ... crete.aspx Villina Lane 11/14 $3900 08/15 Contract 11/15 DA Approval 02/16 Demolition 03/16 Peg out 06/16 Slab 06/16 Ground floor frame 07/16 1st floor frame & windows 09-12/16 Bricks blog Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10030Mar 18, 2016 5:29 pm Bleaky - Great news about the floor. Love to see what it looks like when completed. S-VE - We had rain and our SS didn't claim them He said way back that he wouldn't claim days when they were fitting out the insides of the house. What a legend! Why claim them when what you're doing is covered and not actually affected by rain?! I'll take some pics for you on the weekend. I can tell you that upstairs has a door made out of the same stuff as vanity/kitchen cupboards and is the same colour (white-ish) so it stands out against the wall. And downstairs the door blends in with the wall as it's made of MDF or stuff similar to the gyprock and painted to same colour as the wall. They're both push to open. Thanks Arielbj. It's a shame regarding the unevenness of your floor. I'll try to get the list. We've been packing for our big move to the house. We too are looking for insides for wardrobes. Hubby met with someone today but no idea on pricing etc as I haven't spoken to him yet. Have a great weekend guys! I have also picked the austral chiffon Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10033Mar 18, 2016 7:45 pm I asked the concreter the other day about the rain when he was out the front while doing his form work. He said its fine if it rains after they are finished pouring. It just can't rain while the slab is being poured. BB - How is life with 3 ? I found it a horrific transition redwynne - I think you need some roundup I think after lock up they can't claim rain days ? bleaky - I love the colour of your floor Is that bamboo or hardwood ? Is M doing your flooring ? I didnt like the bamboo M offered so we are doing the flooring after we get the keys. I like those kitchen handles. I'm starting to think I should of gotten similar. I ummed and argghed over that style and the curved style and went with the curved because the feature tile for the splashback has a curve. None of our overhead cupboards have handles. sandra2016 - I can sympathise with M making errors. We've had to have heaps of stuff fixed on our plans. I'm so anxious to see what house they are going to give me after handing over $450,000! This is how much I don't trust M, I've been looking at the form work for the slab thinking that it doesn't look big enough and wondering if they are going to build like the smallest Villina and not the Elite Masterton Villina Elite 2016 23/3 Slab 13/4 Frame & Windows 24/5 Bricks 19/8 Roof 29/9 Gyprock 3/11 Paint Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10034Mar 18, 2016 7:50 pm Sandra 2016, we took home our selections folder in Jan this year and it lists Chiffon in the sapphire range of bricks which would be $3363 for a single storey. Our gripe at this stage is that it has now been 9 weeks and still no revised tender or plans. They sit on paperwork for as long as they like while imposing a 90 day period to sign contracts. And we already know the tender will not be right and will need amendments. And the proposal encourages the client to get through the stage quickly so that any left over time can be added to the next 90 days.....fat chance of that happening! The wording in the proposal is 90 days from the date of the proposal, sales tells me it's from the date of paying $3900. And also, the proposal says that if you go over the 90 days you are charged a monthly penalty calculated FROM THE DATE OF THE PROPOSAL. I've heard that they are 500 builds behind. I can only assume that they are holding up preconstruction so as to delay releasing yet more builds into the backlog. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 10035Mar 18, 2016 8:54 pm Fingerscrossed it sounds like you have some great Intel .... 500 behind, wow. They should pull some of their advertising for new clients (every weekend on the car radio i hear them) & spend the $ serving the existing clients! SVE - Hubby used about 6 litres of weed killer, mostly in the back yard. That plant you see in the corner there is from the neighbour's yard and hubby pulled it down. I think M have bitten off more than they can chew hence they're slowness, incompetence etc. I think that we're only a very small handful of people who are building or have built with M. I would think we'd be less than 10% of M's clientele. Hubby's meeting with the wardrobe guy today was fruitless. Not sure what he didn't like about our wardrobes but he apparently has heaps of kitchens keeping him busy and wasn't interested in doing them. He didn't say that before he came over!! For those that have done more to their wardrobe internals than the M standard, can you please post a picture of a built-in and a WIR. Trying to get ideas. Thanks. Her husband apparently has work for the next 2 years! My gripe is that they still expect clients to meet deadlines or face penalty during preconstruction when hold ups are occurring by M.......I had asked for clarification of what is deemed normal processing time but was ignored. redwynn....not sure where you're building but we've used Elite Wardrobes in Peakhurst a few times in the past and plan to use them again as we were very happy with their service. Sounds like you're happy with them. M's plasterer came to fix up the holes in the ceiling made by relocating lights etc. We had a chat about M and they're apparently strapped for tradies that they're sourcing them from Asia, Philippines maybe?
