Marina 12 good question I will have a look tomoz as I left it at the house Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6582Aug 15, 2015 6:46 pm Callie, the first bill I got for the electricity was quite large (over $200) but I found that it was because the block was fenced, so they did a "guesstimate" bill, not an actual bill. I contacted the electricity company and they agreed to come and actually read the meter, and I explained how to get in through the fence if no tradies were onsite. (they didn't need to be gymnasts to get access, just needed to know which fence panel was never closed!). Having said that, I also figured that if I had no choice but to pay the "guesstimate" (which was way over the reality) then I would just be in credit when they came to read the meter for the following bill, when the fence was gone. We've been told we are at lockup stage now and received the progress claim payment already. I drove past the house the other day to check from the outside, it looks like the doors are installed but not the garage door. Is his normal for lockup stage? And if it is, when does the garage door get installed? I'll call my ss on Monday to check. What were the things in your build that were not-negotiable upgrade items? I'm interested to hear what inclusions people value most when building. 2. Is there anything you wish you had changed or reconsidered? 3. Does M have a carpet supplier they prefer, or is it an 'in-house' supplier? I can't think of any thing at the moment that was "Essential" although I'm sure others will have their Essential items 2. Colours As we made our selections over a year ago we are now in the process of choosing an entirely different colour scheme. Fortunately our SS said we could change our paint colour & add feature walls for no charge, although with all the stress & running around looking at colours I don't think he has done us a favour 3. I beleive that M uses Accent carpets as their main supplier. The brothers that run the business have each just built in our estate. One with M & the other with Rawson whom they also supply. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6595Aug 16, 2015 10:36 am Hi Martinsharmony: 1. Freestanding tub, stacker doors, Stained French doors to our study and the Cloudy Bay Stone Upgrade. Also good quality carpet and underlay and floor to ceiling tiles in bathrooms 2. Not building with Masteron. We should of custom built. If I had my time again... 3. Accent carpets https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6596Aug 16, 2015 6:46 pm Things that we really wanted to upgrade: 1 Aircon to a named brand that could cool the whole house 2 upgrade to softer carpets 3 built in stove / oven 4 lots more powerpoints and data points It's pretty individual though. Spent loads of money when we went into it thinking we would just take the standard inclusions. Lots....... 2.4m high stacker doors to alfresco, freestanding tub, big shower head, better air con than the basic one offered, sliding doors to wardrobes, big front door handle, plush carpet & better underlay, ultraglaze kitchen cabinets. 2. During the plans stage, we didn't realise one of the bedroom windows is fixed..... would have changed it to an opening one. Would have had another garden tap. 3. Accent.....as others have said! We've gone with 2.7 metre ceilings downstairs - which are standard now, changed the sliding doors to stackers and moved the doors & windows around in the great room. Also added doors to the study & WIR and upgraded the aircon. The facade was a surprise for us, we went with the Traditional, all the photos we saw showed it was all brick. When we got the plans there was 'light weight FC sheeting' on sections of the first floor - so we upgraded to brick. I thought we had asked all the 'dumb' questions, if we were doing it again we would ask more. Thanks Everyone MartinsHarmony 1) the things that we upgraded and can now see have worked to great visual effect are raised ceiling heights and door heights (2.6m/3m downstairs - in the split area) - and window heights in some cases (we too went for 2.4m high stacker doors). Concentrate on door size (both height and width) and material/window (height/width/style - sliding, awning etc)/ceiling heights. For eg, We changed almost every window that came on the first set of plans - just grab an online copy of the Dowell window guide and have a look around. Just make sure the changes you make you make consistently! Couldn't live without the walk-in-pantry - love it (not in the standard villina layout but we created one by reducing the size of the laundry) 2) some kind of door (sliding/bi-fold/cavity or otherwise) between great room and rest of the house - never having lived a) in a 2 storey house or b) in an "open plan" house before - we were a bit ignorant as to how much the noise/heat/kitchen cooking smells travel up & down that stairwell - we thought we had it covered by having soundproofing insulation between the floorboards - forgot about the big stairwell void! Also - might have gone for wooden floors rather than bamboo (that was a cost issue for us) - our bamboo looks great but we already have 4 or 5 panels that need replacing so not sure about long term durability! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 6600Aug 17, 2015 10:02 am shell90 We now have all the electrical done (except for exhaust fans in bathrooms as someone wired them above the shower? So they have to come back, but that suits me because they can install our pendants for us at the same time!) all of our toilets, baths, taps etc are in! Shell90 we specifically asked for them above the shower - best place for them as the main extraction is shower steam (our electrician friend told us to get them all there) and had them moved on the plans - but we had the opposite problem and they put them in the standard position, not above the shower! They had to come and move them. If its not already too late - I would keep them above the shower! My friend who built with M and has them in the standard position and says that her extractor fan "drips" water on her when she gets out of the shower (hers is not above the shower) and it drives her crazy! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 4 16829 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16095 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20251 |
