I have been wondering how you were going ! I'm sorry to hear of all your troubles and I hope it all goes well from here. I have to agree with you on some points you made. We were never so busy as when we got our keys either and we also had a 2 y.o in the house while his mum was at work and I was trying to coordinate pools, concreters , tradesman , removalists and vacating a rental etc AND THE CARDBOARD AND FOAM PACKING !!!!! OMG 3 1/2 mths down the track and we are still getting rid of it even though we have been using family members bins as well as ours. Some of the trades take the cardboard away thank goodness, or it would be years getting rid of the boxes for the plantation shutters and new appliances and furniture etc. Now it's time to try and get rid of the underlay they put on top of the bamboo to protect it...lol This is the third house we have built and it is getting harder every time...the red tape...the govt regulations...the OC...Never again for us...famous last words hehhehe Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2950Dec 23, 2014 9:07 am Cello - I love your house and despite the issues its good to know that you get a beautiful home in the end. I love your fireplace. Did you install it after handover or during the build. M would not explain anything to us so we figure we will just organise it now and speak with our ss to get the guts installed during the build. At least you get a beautiful home to spend christmas. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2951Dec 23, 2014 9:39 am Pikey This is the third house we have built and it is getting harder every time...the red tape...the govt regulations...the OC...Never again for us...famous last words hehhehe Pikey we often joke about how we now have so much acquired knowledge/info about building and a list of things we would do better/check/improve next time around .... that it would be a waste not to do it all again! However, unless we move out of Sydney or win the lottery, I suspect we will never be able to afford to, so fingers crossed we can just sit and be content with the first build! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2952Dec 23, 2014 10:20 am Thank you all for your replies. It's nice to hear that you all feel equally poorly treated by M and it's not just us. My sales guy Michael Azzapardi was amazing and a real credit to the organization always polite and always explained properly if something couldn't be done. I have been in tears that many times after speaking to people in head office from their rudeness or lack of empathy or refusal to do something without any explanation or just plain ignoring you. I've spoken to the tilers directly who have told me they forgot to let the electrician to put the underfloor heating wiring in and then received a letter from m saying that I have delayed my build when I knew that they had delayed the build... When we moved in our electrician came to install our own Miele appliances and all the cut outs were wrong for the kitchen. Well we were without appliances for another two weeks having to get take away every day. My roof is so crooked that the bathroom tiles that I paid for to go to the ceiling sit funny and look very messy where it joins the ceiling. The mirrors that I paid for to go to the ceiling could not go to the ceiling because the ceiling was out. The SS told the mirror company to cut the mirror on a diagonal so it would match how out the ceiling is! And there's a gap between the mirror and the ceiling. I will put these onto my list of defects and hopefully they will be rectified but who knows. The fireplace I arranged myself as m would not do it. I got a lopi fire and it was about $8000 including installation. I had to make the wall very wide (about 48cm) to have it installed and m left a hole in the wall which was cement sheeted with a PowerPoint and a gas tap inside the wall and then my installer installed the fireplace and I got a friend to close the hole up with cement sheeting then tiled it with stacked stone. It is amazing. Looking at it almost makes me want to cry it's so amazing. And worth the hours that it took to research it and plan the wall and the detailed sketches I drew for m. Our home theatre is behind the wall and we have used the depth of the wall to build speakers into the other side so it was quite a detailed design to get them to sit right. The gyprockers delayed about 3 weeks over our place due to the added complexities. We have been able to do quite a lot before Christmas so we are very greatful to our trades who have worked tirelessly. We have some here rendering the rest of the house now. Half the price to do it after! The only one in struggling with is to find a driveway contractor. It's 52 square meters and I've had some ridiculous prices. I'm hoping to get it done for $5000 or less. Does anyone have anyone they can recommend? Without the driveway I can't do the lawns so we have to put up with the dreaded dust!!! Though my little boy is loving his giant sand pit! The cardboard by the way we have found you can drop off for free at certain paper recycling centers. There is one in brookvale but you can google to find one local to you. I have some fantastic renderers if you would like their details on me. I have a wonderful cabinetmaker too who I'd be happy to recommend. We got our av set up from Harvey Norman commercial (ask for Kris) and they have been wonderful. Our home theatre is equivalent of going to the movies! Truly! I'll take some more photos and post them later. We are very grateful to be in for Christmas. It is a dream come true. 23/5 Land 2/7 $3500 20/11 5% 2014 14/1 Floor 28/1 Sentinel 5/3 Col 11/3 DA 25/3 Elec 2/4 Land settled 3/4 Demo 8/4 Pool 17/4 Peg 5/5 Cert 24/6 Exc 7/7 Slab 30/7 Frame 4/8 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2953Dec 23, 2014 11:46 am Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ 23/5 Land 2/7 $3500 20/11 5% 2014 14/1 Floor 28/1 Sentinel 5/3 Col 11/3 DA 25/3 Elec 2/4 Land settled 3/4 Demo 8/4 Pool 17/4 Peg 5/5 Cert 24/6 Exc 7/7 Slab 30/7 Frame 4/8 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2954Dec 23, 2014 12:25 pm Cello dont stop with the pics. I am in love! Thanks for the info re the fireplace. I think we will do the same. We got M to build the wall to the specs of the fireplace we choose and hopefully we get a good SS that will work with us. I hear the guy that services the area is fantastic. I hope that at least one of the people that we will deal with during this build is good at their job and not unprofessional, rude or inefficient. I have hated the journey so far but your pics have restored a little hope that we get a beautiful product in the end. I am so sorry to hear the problems you have had especially the treatment and build quality. BUT from the pics you cant tell and again you have done an utterly fantastic job with your selections Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2955Dec 23, 2014 1:08 pm Loving the feature wall and your deck and the colour selections the pendant lights did you do after handover. or will M install them if I purchase the pendant lights KDR. Lucky..... Thanks the color is Stonebridge. You have no idea how it will turn out when you choose those tiny samples and I really loved it when I saw it on the walls! I loove my bathrooms too. I saw the all dark look with the porcelain highlights and wood accessories in a photo and tried to do something similar. It looks amazing with the pendants shadows cast on the wall. 23/5 Land 2/7 $3500 20/11 5% 2014 14/1 Floor 28/1 Sentinel 5/3 Col 11/3 DA 25/3 Elec 2/4 Land settled 3/4 Demo 8/4 Pool 17/4 Peg 5/5 Cert 24/6 Exc 7/7 Slab 30/7 Frame 4/8 Bricks Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 2958Dec 23, 2014 2:46 pm marina12 Loving the feature wall and your deck and the colour selections the pendant lights did you do after handover. or will M install them if I purchase the pendant lights I got an electrician to install my lights after handover. If it is calendar days we went over by 1-2 weeks mainly doe to he ups with council- approval took around 10 weeks. We were not charged anything extra which I was really stressing about. I'm not sure if that info is of any use to you or not. Do you know if they will take into account the time Masterton closes up for over Christmas? Shiraz I am also interested as to when the contracted days begin, my partner and I are trying to figure it out as it would make a huge difference to our build. My original assumption was that it may have been from when it is handed over to construction, but that's only a guess. I think we will go over more than that, even considering the Christmas break, which they exclude from the 90 days. I am just concerned how likely they may increase the prices after 1st of January given the dynamics of the demand for their services. So the 1 million dollar question is: pay $5000 and extend the contract by 3 more months or risk paying even more later? Anyone know if the number of people building is growing or declining in the recent months? Hi, we paid our $3900 in November and when I recieved an email about a week ago to say that head office has only now recieved our file I questioned how long it would be before we recieved our plans?. I was told that they are "extremely busy at the moment and we won't have our plans till February" so I would take this as if buisness for M is not slowing at all.
