Gilly I am so sorry to hear of the problems. Hopefully it gets rectified quickly. Our SS is very good so far. I will mention - as it seems to be different for different areas - that our SS got our plans after the slab was laid. He takes over from the slab construction. He rang us when we hit rock doing plumbing and has made time to speak with hubby when he has rung. Someone also asked how long did pre-construction take. For us, we requested the tender in July 13, signed the contract in November, went into Council in December and had everything approved by Feb. We went into our 20 days till construction in March and started end of March (we had a slab on 7 April and technically did not have to start until 9 April). On another note, years ago I worked for a swimming pool company. Day in and day out I got abused by customers (some threatening to come down and get me - I was a 16 year old girl working in the office by herself when I got the phone call). I could not help the customers despite wanting to. Needless to say that I only stayed there for 10 months. I guess my point is that I am glad that your hubby stayed calm Gilly. He did the right thing. I don't really want mitred and have not paid extra so hopefully that is what I get. We did the usual Sunday visit to our block. It looks like they have missed out WIP drainage. Better put a call into SS tomorrow. Our drawings show mitred as well front and back but the colour selections chart says an Arris finish to the edges which would not mean mitred. I just looked at ours and its says Aris too : ) Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1393May 19, 2014 7:47 pm Villinaeliters Quick question for any of you who have the platinum pack (I see Masterton no longer offers it, but when we signed up, we took it) - what kind of kitchen is a "platinum" kitchen design, as opposed to a normal one? Does it include drawers rather than cupboards, as far as anyone is aware? Sorry I don't know but I think maybe we should have purchased it after all the upgrades we did in the end. Is there a brochure on it? Villina Grande Handover 10/9 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1394May 19, 2014 10:47 pm Ren, at least for us benchtops were done at colours day - where we had to choose both colour & cut ... Which in our case was AFTER we got Elite drawings, and so superceded them. Possibly the same for you? We also learnt the hard way (as we wanted to move things quickly) that kitchen upgrades can be much more than you expect! We had kitchen appointment 3 weeks before colours, but only got kitchen plans (WITH no costings) the evening before colours. Loved the plans, signed off on everything and then got kitchen/laundry upgrade costs the next day (after colours) ... GASP. Unitemised (elite don't do that) so we didn't know where the unexpected costs (more than double our PA) came from. But elite has been great ... I have sent multiple emails & they have met my requests ... They are just overworked like everyone at M, and we are in a rush, like about 99% of customers (due either to unreslistic expectations or inaccurate estimates provided by M). So we signed before we had all info ... Our fault! Lesson for bect build (if we are brave/crazy enough to ever do it again! Everything was done by email and each time they sent an email, I would send it straight back and ask for individual costing. I had wanted a 900mm built in oven but then you can't get a price for the actual oven until colours so we would not sign off until we were in the colours appointment with all the costs. I ended up going with the freestanding oven as the upgrade was ridiculous. I am getting a kick board for the oven so you can't see under it which was the reason I wanted it built in. Problem solved. I would have liked to have sat down with someone to ask about options I could put into the kitchen. I have the look I want, will do function after handover probably for a fraction of the cost. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1396May 20, 2014 12:02 pm Hi Guys, Has anyone paid for the upgrade for the ducted rangehood to outside? I've just had a look on the external wall of my kitchen and there is no vent there even though we've paid for it to go outside. Did anyone get this on their place? and if so, could you please advise how it works? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 1397May 20, 2014 12:19 pm Function afterwards is advisable - two cutlery inserts for drawers cost us over $500 (and one was included in our package, but we had to upgrade to a wider one). I kid you not!!! If only I'd have known ..... am sure I could have found a similar solution online/bunnings/ikea for about $50!!! That is strange re the oven - but as we had platinum package, we could have the 900mm built in or freestanding at no extra cost. Would have thought the freestanding to be more expensive than the built in .... shows my ignorance. We have the built in one .... Am much more streetwise now (going into electrical appointment this week) and after chatting with an electrician friend, who is going to do pretty much everything for us after handover, we are hoping that there will be quite a bit of spare change from our $5000 PA for electrical (needed to pay for increased kitchen costs!). Ah the joys ... heaven help us when the build actually starts (not that anyone at M will give me approximate time frames for that .....). I have decided to take the zen approach .... maybe if I stop pushing for things to happen quickly and just sit back, they will start moving! Hi, pikey, the kitchen they provide is not much different than the mansion package. more colors options. the kitchen lay out should be the same you see at the display house for particular model. the ploytec cupboard is the one they will provided. Ploytec is not that seamless as polyurethane. please see my post regarding this.
