Dream_home, we got into electrical at Emu Plains next Wed morning. Our preference was EP as its much closer. They sent us the price list and info on Monday. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 969Jan 22, 2014 11:03 pm Pikey sengu Villinaeliters, Hi Sengu - Do I read this correctly? If you have a timber handrail etc on your staircase neither M nor Genstairs will stain it? Or do they have standard stained colors? Pikey! Villinaeliters! When I visited the genstairs showroom, the guy told me they come in raw finish so you will need to stain it yourself. Looks like this is not the case!!! I went for my colours appointment today and they do staining. They (Genstairs) have 3 staining to choose from, but the l stains are very light finish from the sample they showed me. Our flooring is dark and red but luckily our colours coordinator said they can stain it dark redish / same staining we have chosen for our front door entrance. We ended up with silver poles, with metal strings, and oval shape handle stained. If I recall, it works out to be roughly around $4200. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 970Jan 22, 2014 11:04 pm dream_home93 Sengu, you've got great taste! We chose the same colour. Kj, we also chose the same shower heads as you... They are gorgeous! We are now just waiting on the Electrical appointment and for the house to get out of Council. Going to be making a couple of calls to our DA Officer over the next week or so to see when she anticipates it being approved. Thanks!! Great taste comes with great price though! HEHE Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 971Jan 22, 2014 11:07 pm GillyM sengu Umm I just have colour appointment and electrical left. Already paid my deposit and 5% currently awaiting council approval. Hopefully, I will have my first slab in February! Hi Sengu..... I hope things move fast for you, but I wouldn't expect the slab to happen in February. We had our colours and electrical appointments in November, then M submitted our plans to Council late November. Council approval came through just before Christmas, but of course M were then on holidays so no progress was made for a few weeks. Yesterday our M preconstruction co-ordinator went through the next phase of things with me...... we are now with their Estimating Department who are assessing Development Conditions, and this will take about another 2 weeks. THEN, it moves into the next phase of organising materials/fencing/pegout/portaloo/etc which takes 20 working days (ie: another month). That will takes us to mid March, so it will be about 4 months between colour appointment and slab (3 months if you were to take out the time that M were on holidays!). I do hope it moves faster for you, but I'm guessing that you may have a bit longer to wait! Have fun at your colour appointment!! Damn, that's disappointing! It has taken forever to get to this stage already. I've just checked my reciept for first $3500.. omg, it was in JULY 2013!!! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 972Jan 23, 2014 2:41 pm Well colour room was done and dusted today. Only took a few hours and no complaints the lady was terrific. We didn't upgrade much except for an extra tap out the front and a gully out the back for a pool drawers in the main bathroom vanity phone line connection thingy Upgrade to White Swirl QQ stone in kitchen and butler's pantry. No one had ever chosen it before with M (they had to add it to their database) I couldn't believe it as its so nice when you see it in a big piece....no chips or flecks just a lovely spilt milk blotchy look... Upgrade to the staircase to Stainless steel string and posts with a maple stained rail to match our architraves. All good looking forward to the electrical being over so we can stop spending extra on upgrades. Added Sarking for roof, contoured shower screens for all, Felix shower combo to all, phone connection, upgrade all internal doors to bigger ones, added privacy locks to all rooms, upgraded down stair powder/shower vanity to match the others, staircase, upgraded gas cooktop and oven... Was gonna add 40mm Quartz waterfall edges to match benchtops but going over budget as it is. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 975Jan 24, 2014 3:55 pm Hey everyone, Can anyone shed some light on my question... How much does it cost per downlight? And also are they halogen or LED downlights that they provide and if they provide both what is the price difference. Can't seem to find this on the website. Ta CG Hi Chelseaguy1..... we had our electrical appointment in November, and there are 2 different downlights. 9W LED downlights are $61 each and 12W LED downlights are $91 each. We went for the 12W, mainly because we are having 3m ceilings in the living areas, and the 9W seemed a bit dull and may not provide enough brightness. I have not had electrical a so do not know Masterton prices. My hubby is doing our electrical and I know from him that 80% of your lighting must be energy efficient. So I imagine that Masterton would have to use mostly led's. led's are more expensive than halogens and I am sure M will be passing this coat onto you. Being single story (from memory) you might be best off getting quotes to install after handover. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 978Jan 25, 2014 10:32 am Thanks everyone! Yeah I went and had a look at a lighting place in Revesby yesterday and I seemed to like a product that has 50,000 hr life - they were LED obviously and they were going to be $40 each if i were to get 50+, which we will definitely need. They also use a computer program to lay out exactly where each light should go. So we would be looking at around $2200 for the product and I have had an electrician quote $30 each to install. so it should be just shy of $4000 installed for a product that will be probably superior to Ms. They can also be dimmed should we want that. The electrician also said it is approx $70 per powerpoint so it will be interesting what M charge there. We are just about to head to contracts so we are a long way off most of you guys at the moment. Fingers crossed it progresses smoothly from here. Loving the sound of the progress of everyone's build though. I love the wire stair case thing - we were discussing this sort of thing this morning and that it may be the way to go for our alfresco which will be slightly elevated. See what happens there. Any advice before going to contract meeting?? Besides read everything thoroughly of course - any handy tips or things to look out for? Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 979Jan 26, 2014 6:22 am Chelseaguy1 Any advice before going to contract meeting?? Besides read everything thoroughly of course - any handy tips or things to look out for? Hi Chelseaguy1..... Certainly always a good idea to read everything thoroughly of course, but M use a standard building contract.... and there really isn't a lot that you can actually change, or that M would agree to change. You'll get to go over your final plans ...... now is the time to make any changes if you need to, because after you sign off on them, it will cost a lot to alter them (can't remember if it was $1000 or $2000 per change..... either way, its expensive!). Good luck...... one step closer!!
