Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 16, 2013 10:17 pm Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and new to building! Currently, I have just recieved my master plans and still waiting on the footing reports. YAY! finally. My question is : is anyone able to shed some light on prices for things they upgraded with their selections? I have upgraded a few things in the initial contract but its the small stuff that will add up! i just dont want too many surprises when i go to the appt. The sales consultant has sort of left me once i signed up for the contracts and the selection books were sent. They didnt even get back to me when i wanted to change somethin major! Wasting 4 weeks! arghhh will the hair pulling ever stop? Re: First time builder with Hickinbotham 2Jul 17, 2013 6:22 am hi autumn great to see another hickies build on here. what house ar you building and where are you building at? I've just done colour selections so i have a few upgrade prices if you want to pm me. hair pulling never stops! lol I've jjst come to realize i have to have my sight re pegged so there is another $440 and worried the house on the back is awfully close to building on my boundary.:s thats not good that your sales person wasnt very helpful. i wouldnt be happy with waiting 4 weeks either! Re: First time builder with Hickinbotham 3Jul 17, 2013 8:46 am Hey Meg25 I am building the Greendale in Parkview Estate - Salusbury Downs. And you? Where are u building? My site looks like its been pegged ATM but the developers have it blocked off to dig out trenches. That's what's delaying my construction footing report as well' Re: First time builder with Hickinbotham 4Jul 17, 2013 8:58 am Hi there I tried PMing and it didn't work. So copy and paste and here goes. I have a few questions. (I'm a newbie, so much to learn). Were there any charges u think were 'compulsory' a 'must have' Did u upgrade much of your electrical? I'm unsure of what junction points are. Did you get your different lighting done with them? If so what did you get and how much? Glass splash back? What colour joinery did u get? Was it standard or upgraded? Cost? Upgraded taps? Gold basins? I'm just hoping to get a rough idea on price at this stage. I have added a lot of things such as joinery in laundry, extra pot draws in kitchen. But I just don't want any surprises. Hoping that my extra $12k should b enough otherwise I have to look at my preapproval again. I hope you don't mind the essay. Thanks in advance. Take the PM link on a post to send a private message to that person. It used to work from our profile pages, I'm sure I've done that, but it wasn't working for me today when I sent a PM to you--just clicked the PM on your post to enable it to work. Re: First time builder with Hickinbotham 7Jul 17, 2013 8:19 pm hi autumn I'm building in andrews farm. um I think the compulsory's are different for each site and depends on the encumbrances in your estate. in not sure what junction points are either lol! i only upgraded my power points to double's. that was 10 bucks,to upgrade a single to a double. i didn't change any lighting. splashback prices depend on the size of the splashback but around $1500. i got charred oak which is in the standard range for the joinery cupboards n then i got antarctic stone diamondgloss which was around $500 to upgrade. I didn't upgrade any taps but upgraded my towel rail to a double towel rail for an additional $15 i also didn't upgrade my basin. i didn't upgrade a hell of a lot so i think 12k wil be plenty enough for upgrades. Thanks in advance. no we didnt upgrade much electrical, our consultant put in our quote to upgrade all powerpoints to doubles and 3 tv points. zub13 upgraded a fair bit of electrical she might be able to explain amps and junctions better. no we didnt get a glass splahsback. no we didnt get lighting upgraded, will do later on. we got polar white natural finish cupboards and our benchtops are white valencia(diamond gloss) to the kitchen and ebony marble(diamond gloss) to the bathrooms. we did not upgrade our basins but upgraded our kitchen sink to the linea 1180 for an extra $150 and the kitchen tap to a flickmixer for an extra $95. yes we upgraded our bathroom tapware to elegance but kept the standard ones in the laundry. as for compulsory/must haves it depends if you mean something that we desired or something set out by the estate. for example my must haves were upgrading kitchen appliances but the estate has stipulated we had to have 2700mm high ceilings. our total upgrades were $5500 i think your 12k should be fine unless you do major upgrades on electrical. also keep in mind nbn will cost you $1030 if you choose to have it. Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8936 So it looks like we finally have some movement on site! Definitely later than expected, but I'll take any progress at this point. I'll drop by over the weekend to get… 5 27707 |
