Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 221Jun 19, 2014 4:33 pm I guess we are at the final stages of the build, We just need Doors painted, Blinds and Carpets to go in, power points and electrical work to be completed. appliances to be installed, shower screens and any other bits and bobs, like if the tiler needs to come back and fix things and insulation put in the roof, sounds a lot but should all be done basically by the end of next week., we have been told Some of this may have been done, but we are only going down tomorrow to check on what we can see. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 223Jun 20, 2014 1:19 pm Wow... Just found out my sister in law has booked her handover in for start of July... Awesome for her! She started building 6months after us (different builders) Hopefully not much longer and we will be able to celebrate our home too Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 224Jun 20, 2014 1:36 pm We hope so too, but we aren't holding our breath. Wow that just shows you how far we are all behind, 6 Months is a long time. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 226Jun 23, 2014 10:47 am But are there actually standards (or similar) that set out what is defined in each progress stage, i.e. lock up? I sought clarification regarding lock up progress payment from the Building commission but what I received was (I think) someones opinion on what was defined as lock up. We had a bit of trouble with Freelife regarding lock up payment, we had to fight for a temporary door to be put on but they refused that plastering was apart of it - though all other builders tend to include this in lockup. The CLO actually told us that there would be no door going on either, point blank, but we turned up at our build, and we had a door. I want to ask you for other advice, but I'm not sure what advice I am searching for haha... Just so frustrated with this build and incompetent builder Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 227Jun 23, 2014 11:38 am Quote: But are there actually standards (or similar) that set out what is defined in each progress stage, i.e. lock up? Just so frustrated with this build and incompetent builder I think that was my single biggest mistake in all this as well, not clarifying what constituted each stage before signing the contract. If I knew in advance we were paying over 90% of the contract price when maybe 50% of the work is actually complete there's no way I would have signed it! I'm at lock up as well and only having about 15k left to pay on reaching PCI and have no internal fitout (they didn't fit a temporary door either but they didn't argue it when I said I'm not paying lockup until it was on.) Best I can see is like you said each person has their own opinion on what makes up each stage except for PCI which is defined in the HIA contract. Best explanation I could find was "the house must be able to be secured and weather proof so materials for the internal fitout can be secured onsite." Which technically mine is even though it doesn't have any plastering or anything else does. Just got back from our site and it looks like after 4 or 5 weeks of nothing some of the electrical pre-work has been done and the plumbing is supposed to start this week so fingers crossed things keep happening! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 228Jun 23, 2014 12:29 pm I will be doing the same next time (with a different builder) spikeaus85 - getting in writing what is in each stage. Like you, I'm paying close to my max repayments... Unlike you, all my electrical, gas and plumbing was fitted before they requested payment - where's the consistency? It makes me think that they obviously can't get plasterers in as I've been waiting near on 5 weeks and this is exactly why they requested the payment as they knew how long a wait it would be. Hopefully the plumbing starts this week for you Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 229Jun 24, 2014 12:50 pm Unfortunately the story does not here guys you still have to get maintenance done through them and no one will ever come to fix the issues we are struggling to get ours done. materials used will ne completely different to what you have selected and list just goes on. they are a useless bunch and should be closed down. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 230Jun 24, 2014 1:36 pm I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way... But there are a lot of us complaining on here about freelifes service and quality (or lack of), but has any one, particularly those who have had handover, that have reported them or done something more than just rant on this forum? Technically speaking, freelife has not done anything out of contract regarding my build and I won't be taking any action (if at all), if my build is completed within the 220 contract timeframes and according to other requirements in contract. Although it would be nice to have the house slab to handover complete in 6 months like most other WA builders... I can't legally do anything else but rant! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 233Jun 27, 2014 2:12 pm we have pretty much same results! Slab dowb in Aug, "lock up" Nov then nothing until doors were on in march then delays again... we have just got tiles laid. Insulation has been sitting outside in the weather, not even under our alfresco. Just passed the 220days given in the contract. No completion date yet- have to wait until tiles are completed but hopefully not long. Progress and communication has impoved a LOT since Emma has taken over being out client liaison. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 234Jun 27, 2014 6:58 pm That's what we have been told in the past also. Just have to wait... We were 2nd slab down in our estate- about 6 or so people have moved in already. Our neighbour, who was 2weeks ahead of us has been in since January. On the plus side - we won't be moving into a construction site. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 238Jul 02, 2014 4:33 pm I would say so, peoples full names were starting to get mentioned so I can see why complaints would have been made. Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24905 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE. I have water coming through the bricks… 1 14453 Hi we are looking to talk to people who have built with them recently. We have signed mid range built contract but identified that a lot of things are not included.… 0 749 |
