Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 202Jun 11, 2014 3:54 pm Communication with me has dropped right off again too, tried calling and emailing for the last week and a half and can't get anyone to give me a simple call back Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 203Jun 11, 2014 5:18 pm I have to admit, within the last 2 weeks I've got the same excuses and my build hasn't changed in 3 weeks past the lock-up stage. We've had a couple of emails but just excuses as to why the build isn't moving. Definitely not enjoying this build... The houses around me are overtaking mine! I feel embarrassed that I chose this builder... I hope you get some communication soon! What's your background story - how long has it been since slab down for you? Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 204Jun 11, 2014 6:52 pm They must have felt their ears burning... I tried again during my lunch break today and finally got to talk to our client liaison. Still wasn't awesome result but at least I have some up to date info, downside is it'll be another 2 weeks before anything else happens on my house cause they can't book the plumber any sooner. My Story is, signed up March 2013, titles came out in November, settled on the land 1st week of December, Slab went down nice and quick was down by the 17th. Got to plate height by 2nd or 3rd of Feb this year. Then the house sat for two and a half months with no excuses or explanations as to what was going on. In the meantime our sales person tried to hit us up for an extra $2,500 in insulation upgrades (which they had already installed) I fought the variation tooth and nail up until he quit/was let go as same week I got the letter you mentioned from the owner got a second one saying he was no longer working for Freelife and never heard anything more about the additional charges. We were also advised our client liaison had been replaced. Communication then seemed to improve at least I could get through to our client liaison but still no action on the house. A few weeks later, by early May stuff started happening again and we reached Roof Cover, a week later got the invoice for Lock up. Refused to pay lock up as one window was missing as was a door and roof was nowhere near complete. About a week later they sorted all that out and house has sat with no further work done. Finally got through to them today and apparently plumber is booked for the 23rd with plastering happening not long after that. It's been an incredibly disappointing experience... I don't think they care at all the fact you're paying several hundred dollars a week in interest payments for your pride and joy to be just sit there without any work being done. Got 2 or 3 other couples we know who are building as well and their all finding this a stark contrast to their experience (the ones who started building around the same time as us have been in their new house 2 weeks now and that was about double the size of what I'm building.) Hope they've collectively sorted themselves out internally so your experience is better! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 205Jun 11, 2014 11:33 pm Haha definitely felt their ears burning! Sorry to hear about the delays and costs. I think I may know who that sales rep is as they slugged us some extra charges regarding an item on the plan that wasn't on the plan, that everyone thought was yada yada - next minute he emails us saying he isn't with freelife... We are waiting on a date for the plasterer currently, something about shortage of trades (not heard this about plasterers before but I may be wrong). Hopefully your plumbing is done on time and goes smoothly from then onwards. I completely agree about the mortgage interest repayments. It's ridiculous and agree with the friends in bigger houses... It just makes me really sad and angry! Haha. Hopefully it goes smoothly from here on in... Miracles may happen! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 206Jun 13, 2014 11:47 pm Was told screening and waterproofing would be started end of this week. I would assume Friday is the end of the week... So silly me assumed today it was getting done? Nope. Still nothing... Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 208Jun 14, 2014 4:03 pm Just went to measure up a space to see if a gate we found would fit and tilers are there! WOOHOO Got to have a peek inside too! Still looking wonderful! Haha Had no idea tilers worked Saturdays! Unfortunately, the gate doesn't fit... But there's now progress on the house so I'm very happy! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 210Jun 18, 2014 12:59 pm I've received a date for the next stage of my build, it's still a few weeks off - didn't realise there was a shortage in this particular area, but I'm relieved to get a date. Although, I'm disappointed that it would have been about 5 weeks between stages... Let's just hope freelife can stick to this promised date and they've organized trades and deliveries for the subsequent stages (maybe I'm dreaming a little bit too much)... Hope everyone else's builds are moving along! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 212Jun 18, 2014 4:39 pm Yeah we had a massive wait for plastering to happen to our place too, it was due to be done before Christmas 2013 and didn't happen until well after mid February 2014. Hopefully they keep to schedules more with your build as for us hardly anything was completed when it was supposed to be. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 213Jun 18, 2014 6:25 pm We are at freelifes version of lockup, awaiting the grey float! I feel really bad getting impatient and frustrated when it appears a lot of users on this thread have been waiting much longer. I don't know how you haven't/aren't pulling out your hair! I just want to show them how to use MS Project and how to book trades in ahead of time. Haha... What stage are you up to now unhappywithfreelife? How are your tiles going Gerty? Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 214Jun 18, 2014 6:42 pm That's hilarious, I've actually been tempted to offer them some IT Support (I work at an IT consultancy) given the number of times they've claimed their email server is down as an excuse for not answering emails! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 215Jun 18, 2014 8:42 pm Went out there today to get photos taken for an article about our estate and experience, and our lovely neighbour said she had heard people working on it so not sure how much more has been done since saturday. Hopefully tiles have been laid. Will go have a good look tomorrow Our "lock up" was no doors. Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 216Jun 18, 2014 9:57 pm I guess when we are all moved in, we can look back and laugh at all our experiences. Lock up with no doors! Haha. Did you question the no doors thing when they requested the payment? We fought for our doors but the CLO said the doors won't be put on until after the plastering... Nek minnit - we had doors?!!! Haha. Hope you've got some pretty tiles to look at tomorrow Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 217Jun 18, 2014 11:49 pm No, we didn't realise until recently we could deny them the payment until all the stuff was done... we are only quite young and none of my family has ever built so we are brand new to everything- But all good, only the ensuite bench went missing. (replaced shortly after) Hoping some more progress has been made looking forward to the day we can live in our home! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 218Jun 18, 2014 11:52 pm Fair enough, I doubt it would have made too much of a difference, just make sure you don't sign the final payment unless you are happy! Our temp door and sliding doors are never locked anyway! Oh I cannot wait to unpack all my boxes which are quickly accumulating! I've got most of the furniture now too... This is the exciting part!!! Re: Anyone Heard of Freelife Homes in WA 219Jun 19, 2014 12:11 am Yea we won't hehe We have had all of our furniture ready to go since before we signed up!! Almost forgotten what we have in storage lol Can't wait to unpack it all!! It'll be like Christmas! Haha Wish you all the best. Once you signed the contract, they will find millions excuses to charge you. And have seen their sites unfinished for a long time. 4 24887 I haven’t. But have a Lowe Design home. Not only did I find Matt Lowe patronising and a bully, but the home is NOT TO CODE.
