They took 3 samples and have classed it an m class and recommended founding depth for edgebeams of 350-600mm. We have made the report available to the builder who read it but didn't take a copy and now won't confirm site costs until after they have organised a soil test. which apparently they are organising now. Should there be any reason they can't use our existing soil test? It was only done in March so not like it was years ago. Re: soil test qs 2Jul 12, 2013 12:29 pm I've got a copy of my soil test as well but builders insist on doing their own - I'm guessing its a liability thing, if you look at something like a building or pest report on an existing house it only covers the person that commissioned the report. So basically if the builder runs into any unexpected building costs based on your report and has given you fixed site costs, they would not be able to recover anything from the company providing the report.
