Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 08, 2013 7:08 pm Hi all, I'm having a nightmare of a time finding myself a reliable, professional and honest air conditioning installer and was hoping I could draw on the wisdom of the forum to find one that can do the job properly. Basically, what has happened is I've put a deposit down on a refrigerative cooling system for the house I'm building, but the supplier has come back after several weeks of mucking about and told me it won't work. It turns out they chose a unit without considering airflow, and it simply cannot move the right amount of air per hour to do the job. Seems to me that an air conditioner installer should know this stuff, but clearly these guys don't. This followed months of struggling to get a quote on the system from any suppliers, and literally dozens of phone calls to suppliers who just didn't listen to me. They consistently pitched their standard product without listening to my requirements, ignored my budget (one place was 60% over my stated budget!), and worst of all in some cases refused to issue an actual quote. The thing is I have a budget put aside for this and my window of opportunity is closing. I've negotiated to have access to the site during the build for my AC installer, which should greatly simplify the job for them. Can anybody here recommend a supplier who works in the south-east of Melbourne who they trust? Or just as good, are any of the suppliers here online who want to put up their hand? Because at the moment I'm faced with just abandoning the entire plan, switching back to evaporative (which I don't really like, bad experiences in the past) and hitting Harvey Norman for a couple of split systems. Re: Airconditioning suppliers (Melbourne, south-eastern subu 5Jul 11, 2013 8:32 pm Heh, I just discovered that three of the four A/C companies that gave me a hard time when trying to find a good supplier are all owned by the same parent company! Better still, they appear to all operate out of the same office, with staff moving between "brands" based on workload. No wonder they all seemed so similar, it was all the one mob! Re: Airconditioning suppliers (Melbourne, south-eastern subu 7Mar 06, 2014 10:16 am I went with Temperature Plus in the end - they did a brilliant job, were very good in terms of price, and most importantly delivered a solution that stood up to our recent heat wave. It was really satisfying to find a company that lived up to my expectations for once. HD Thanks for your reply! We're definitely not after a small house Might still have a chat to them. Who did you end up building with if you don't mind me asking? 2 2615 Keen to hear from people in the area who have got KDRB done on whom they got the build from? Looking for recommendations.
