Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Aveley Build! Our first home! 42Aug 15, 2013 5:10 pm Got a small update for y'all!! We received our pre-start folder last night!! After reading about how little some others were, I was very surprised to be given a massive folder! So many decisions!! However, I have a question... with the shower heads it has the standard head and the optional upgrade, but Cam and I want to choose our own... are we allowed to do this? Our first home! 43Aug 15, 2013 5:11 pm Hey mikharjax, We are building down near the sales centre.. our block isn't even there yet, it's all behind big stockland barricades, however we're right near a school.. so should be a nice area Cameron & Kelly The Vale in Aveley, WA Homebuyers Centre The Regent Our Home Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65879 Re: Aveley Build! Our first home! 44Aug 15, 2013 7:56 pm Kelly, Our block is in the same release & I can't wait for that big fence to come down so we can see (and stand on) our block! I wonder how long we'll be waiting? Very exciting for you to get your folder! Nic Re: Aveley Build! Our first home! 45Aug 15, 2013 10:22 pm If they are like any other builder you can pick something different and they will cost it. What you might find though it it is cheaper to change after handover. Our builder wanted to change $250 each to upgrade our shower heads, we'll do it later. Tough it is usually best to stick with their suppliers. Our builder used caroma sinks and we didn't like the upgrade one they showed so we picked a different caroma one from the website. My thought was also it makes our house a little different as many people go with either the standard or the suggested upgrade. Good luck!! It's is the fun bit Re: Aveley Build! Our first home! 47Aug 18, 2013 6:21 pm Hi C & K, Regarding your shower heads (and other upgrades, really) you can get costs for other items as you desire, but you'll just have to decide what suits your budget. The shower for example, is something we had the builder upgrade since the actually water supply is offset with a shower head on rails, as opposed to being centred on the wall. If we got the basic shower head, they would have centred the supply line, which would have been awkward to upgrade later. We had heaps of costings done since we didn't like the toilets, basins, tub and many other minor bathroom accessories in particular. Some we upgraded, some not. It might be worthwhile flicking an email to your prestart girl to get costings in advance. Keep the email and print it to cross reference at prestart. Helps the 3 hour meeting go smoother. We're thinking of going to the caroma showroom at some point and picking out what we actually like. Their suggested toilet upgrade is ok, but the basin, tapware and showerhead is horrible!! Very, very standard. That's what I was thinking in regards to the shower head also. We might get the standard shower head and then find we can't just swap it to the one we want.. might have to select what we want and get it costed beforehand.. otherwise we'll be in that meeting forever! Better value and look nicer. We went for the Caroma Tasman 2 shower on rail. We're also building with HBC in The Vale, block titling in November. We purchased a home and land package with The Regent on it, but changed it up for The Mayfair, just because we liked that house better. Can I ask with lot number you are? We are 3382 (Beckett Street). Look forward to sharing and comparing. At this stage, you're a little ahead of us, we haven't received pre-start info yet ~Katrina Katrina & Mitchell Building our first home with Homebuyers Centre, WA The Vale, Aveley Follow our story here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66829&p=1068696#p1068696 Re: Aveley Build with Homebuyers - We have our Pre-Start fol 51Aug 26, 2013 6:33 pm Hey Katrina! We looked at the mayfair but chose against it.. it has 4 bedrooms doesn't it? We didn't need that many Looks like we're going to be on the same street!! How exciting! I can't remember our lot number, but when I find it I'll PM you How often do you make it up to the land? Cameron & Kelly The Vale in Aveley, WA Homebuyers Centre The Regent Our Home Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65879 Re: Aveley Build with Homebuyers - We have our Pre-Start fol 52Aug 27, 2013 12:02 am Hey Kelly The Mayfair is still a 3x2, but has an activity room near the entrance. We don't need the extra space either, but we preferred the minor bedroom/bathroom layout, and the master WIR layout. All personal preference! I like hearing why people chose the way they did! Yay!! Our yet-to-be-completed street haha. Sounds good! We are renting in Midland atm, so it's easy for us to make it to the block - every weekend at this stage, although when construction starts it will probably be every second day. How are you going with pre-start stuff? We signed our PWC tonight, will be getting pre-start sometime soonish. Although we have already picked almost everything! Guess it's the hardest yet most exciting part ~Katrina Katrina & Mitchell Building our first home with Homebuyers Centre, WA The Vale, Aveley Follow our story here https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66829&p=1068696#p1068696 Re: Aveley Build with Homebuyers - We have our Pre-Start fol 53Aug 28, 2013 12:01 am You'll have to let me know when the fence goes down so we can come up and check it out!! We're renting in Wembley so we're quite a while away from the land Is the PWC the same as the building contract? Did you add any upgrades/changes to the PWC? We're still making decisions - looking to go to some display homes soon to suss out our colour scheme Do you have a building forum? Would love to be able to stalk your build too! A couple of things that had to be added: crossover allowance and extension to the porch. At pre-start we're just hoping to upgrade taps, door handles etc. We don't have much of an allowance built in, so anything more will be coming out of our pockets :/ We drove around and looked at display homes too Just don't linger too long in them, or the sales people will start putting the sell on you! Will be keeping an eye on your thread to see what your thoughts are when you start looking As soon as I update my sig, my thread will appear on there haha. Tile upgrade - Ill PM you the price. Block update - so we drove out there on Saturday as we had a meeting with Stockland. They have extended the under-road drainage from the existing street (Travers Way) and have pegged out Beckett Street! They've also started digging out Beckett Street, putting in more pipes before they start on the actual road surface/kerbing etc. Definitely a lot more had been done since last weekend, and it's looking more promising than a pile of sand!!! We made the mistake of going to Crosby tiles an hour before they closed. No sales reps available and way too overwhelming to choose anything ourselves!
