We are building in Chilsoms Corner , the first release. You? There are 3 Eden Brae homes in our street. Which house are you building? There is also another thread called 'Who else is building with Eden Brae?' Which has loads of great tips and advice from people who have built or are building currently with Eden Brae. Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 3Jul 04, 2013 9:30 pm Hi Roslyn19, We are building the Drysdale 27 in the third stage land gets rego on it in sept this year and they gave us a start date dec this year , what house are you building and how long has everything been taking for u Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 4Jul 05, 2013 1:32 pm We are building the Hawthorne 31. We are just about to finish our bricks early next week. Our land was registered in Oct last year. We were given a March 31st start day but didn't actually get on site until mid may. Things are moving along nicely now... fingers crossed the weather stays sunny. I think we will probably move in late Oct early Nov. Have you done your colour appointment yet? Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 5Jul 05, 2013 4:04 pm How come it took another 2 months to start did they give u a date to have it done by? We only just paid for the tender last weekend Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 6Jul 06, 2013 9:00 am It wasn't really any one thing that caused a delay. The whole admin process was a bit drawn out. I also wanted to mention don't get the landscape design from Eden Brae. It will cost about $700 and be really generic. We asked at the Hermitage sales office and they recommended a guy called Ryan from Captivate Designs. He had our plans to us really promptly and only cost $400. Better $300 in my pocket. Apparently he has done several designs for the Hermitage and knows all the design guidelines. Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 7Jul 06, 2013 9:40 am Thanks I've sent them a email to get a quote as I think I was told $800 from the guy at The Hermitage so hopefully if we can save some money than that will be great what are you doing for the 3 different things on the front of the house Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 8Jul 08, 2013 6:52 pm Great to see your bricks happening on the weekend Ros =) We are building the Drysdale 29 plus 2 also at the Hermitage. Our land is with the LPI for registration at the moment so shouldn't be too far away. We have been given a start date of end of August but I I doubt it though. We are doing brick, render and wood front door / wood look garage door. I agree with Ros to look around for the landscaping plan, it definitely wasn't worth the money. Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 9Jul 08, 2013 7:29 pm What colours did you'd pick for roof and bricks are the colours from Pgh almost the same as the boral range colours in there guidelines Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 10Jul 08, 2013 7:35 pm Building dream home Thanks I've sent them a email to get a quote as I think I was told $800 from the guy at The Hermitage so hopefully if we can save some money than that will be great what are you doing for the 3 different things on the front of the house Hi there, we are also building at The Hermitage and we have just got our plans done from a guy called Ryan at Captive Landscape Design, such a lovely guy and he only charged us $440. I'm curious, has anyone got any ideas about landscapers and who to use? We have a lot of work to do including retaining walls. Barbs 79, it shouldn't be long until your land is registered! How exciting hopefully your start date comes around quickly. I am loving seeing our bricks go up, makes it feel real. The roof should be on early next week. What bricks are you using Barbs 79? Building Dream Home, we are having part render on the front, brick and a wooden garage door. What façade are you using? You have all the fun decisions ahead I found the colours appointment very overwhelming. Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 13Jul 16, 2013 2:49 pm Although i'm not building with EB, I am building in The Hermitage (and in Chisholm's Corner) so thought I would say hi to my potential neighbours! I have just signed off on my tender with M3tric0n and am starting to get quotes for a landscape plan. I was recommended Out There Landscapes who quoted me $660 (obviously a little more pricier then Captivate) but it seems as though Ryan is the go-to man. I did have one question about the colours for driveways, is there anywhere locally you can see sample colours in the flesh? The design guidelines are a little tricky to see on paper and i'm worried i'll choose a colour that clashes with my brick and roof tile! Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 14Jul 16, 2013 9:21 pm Hi CandyApple We are going charcoal driveway and letterbox, We drive around The Hermitage and just looked at everyone's house ha ha I'm sure people do it all the time as for the colours we where told they are Boral colours so you could always go ask them to show you Who are you building with Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 15Jul 17, 2013 10:59 am Building dream home Hi CandyApple We are going charcoal driveway and letterbox, We drive around The Hermitage and just looked at everyone's house ha ha I'm sure people do it all the time as for the colours we where told they are Boral colours so you could always go ask them to show you Who are you building with Stalking peoples houses is a regular weekend event for us too! It is embarrassing but I still can't seem to find examples of what I want, this whole colour process is so overwhelming, i'm petrified to make a decision in case it looks ugly at the end!! I might have to speak to someone at boral about the colours for the driveway, one other thing to add to the list. We are building M3tric0n's Soho 27 with the tradition facade but we've had to alter it to comply with the design guidelines Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 16Oct 24, 2013 11:13 am Hi All We are at Tender Stage for the Hawthorne 23 at the Hermitage for the latest land release. I am concerned about how difficult it is to adhere to the design guidlelines, do most companies, Eden Brae in particular have the range to satisfy the requirements ? Thanks Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 17Oct 24, 2013 12:21 pm Hi Hawthorne23, From my experience (we are at the final stage and waiting for the bank to approve before we get to start building) it's up to you to make sure your choices when building your house comply with the estate guidelines. All companies have the range to satisfy the design guidelines but it generally comes at a price. For instance, the design guidelines state you have to have semi-flat or flat roof tiles, if these aren't included in your standard range provided by your builder you will have to pay the cost of upgrading. the same goes for the exterior of your house, the guidelines say you need to have 3 building articulations but if the facade you have chosen doesn't meet that requirement, you will have to pay your builder to alter the facade accordingly. Re: Building at The Hermitage with Eden Brae 18Oct 24, 2013 1:42 pm Thank you CandyApple , we are going for the colourbond roof, and have to pay for some render on the facade, already have the timber and brick, now hoping the colour range for the concrete driveway is in the standard range. We are moving to the Hermitage from the Inner West, so it is going to be quite a change of scenery ! I built with EB back on 2009.
