Funny how thing work, we just had our piers done, but still no fence and portaloo yet. mochinme9 Everyones Christmases look amazing! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1564Jan 21, 2015 11:54 pm Hi Datdat, Thanks, though I'm not entirely sure if the portaloo or fence mean anything considering that our neighbour down the street that also did a KDR has had their fence and portaloo for around a month already with no movement haha. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1565Jan 26, 2015 10:50 pm Wow. massive thread. Just about to start our journey with Rawson. We are looking forward to our Tender appointment in about a fortnight. I go easy on everyone and create another . Thanks to all of you. Very inspiring. BTW: Just subscribed to your blog Mooshi. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1566Jan 30, 2015 9:30 am Mrs Brown Bear So we have had handover. Didn't go quite so smoothly but we got the place in the end. As of very late last night, our flooring is finished too. Mr BB has been sleeping there every night until we move, except has taken my little boy to the ER tonight Flooring looks fantastic, really happy with it, but it sure does creak more than I thought it would. It's bamboo. Carpet layers worked from 7:30am to 10pm last night. They spent a substantial part of the morning arguing with each other, so not surprised it took so long. They didn't do a fabulous job either, probably too tired! They still have a cupboard to do as they ran out of carpet. But it won't stop us moving in. Started moving some stuff in today, and started the arduous job of cleaning the place. We're living in the next suburb, so quick trip in the car. Some stuff just too bulky or delicate to go on the truck. Photos soon. Hi Mrs Brown Bear, I hope the move and everything has been going smoothly since handover. How have you found everything since moving in? We are about a month or two out and whilst it is exciting, I'm anxious at the possibility of having ongoing issues or obvious faults that we'll need to chase rawson to fix.... Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1567Jan 30, 2015 4:24 pm Hi, It's over 1 month since we moved in now and the house is still in turmoil! So no photos as you really don't want to see our mess! No curtains or blinds, no landcaping, no furniture downstairs. The build quality seems good. They've come good fixing stuff that was left over at handover. Stegbar was around just yesterday. Elba fixed issues pretty quick. I tell you those Caroma taps are cheap and nasty. We've had two shower spray heads break in the space of 2 weeks. Caroma quickly sent us one replacement then the other broke (the Mystic). Post handover we have on our list so far - missing cutlery tray - missing towel rail - half dozen doors too low for carpet - misc minor electrical Not sure how I missed the first two! I'm slowly repainting the colour bungle we made which is reducing our capacity to make purchases, organise trades etc. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1568Jan 31, 2015 8:20 am Mrs Brown Bear Hi, It's over 1 month since we moved in now and the house is still in turmoil! Hopefully they'll fix everything for you quickly, fingers crossed. Any idea on where you plan to get your curtains/blinds? Or are you waiting for the sales? --Joyce. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1569Feb 04, 2015 9:48 pm Hi Joyce, I'm getting custom made curtains. I ordered the fabric separately from someone who did me a really good deal (as it was over $100 / m) and am getting a local curtain company that was reasonable to do the making. Should be a couple of weeks now. Still haven't ordered blinds. Am going to get some electric ones as I have carpal tunnel in my hands. Electrician came around today, so am super excited at seeing quite a few of my lights go up. He was here all day but didn't finish. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1570Feb 10, 2015 11:33 am Super excited to be back in this thread! Our land was excavated before xmas, the the slab was poured in late jan, as of last Friday we had a frame and windows! We've been told our bricks will arrive this week. We are really happy so far with the speed that things seem to be progressing. Our site supervisor seems like a decent bloke, so so far so good. Our only concern is how the finished alfresco will look, we're having the frames recess and the tiling done by tile direct, we're expecting a close to level finish but can't get a straight answer on this! Our timbers and windows was delivered yesterday, hope to see some timbers goes up today. You would like to think if you are getting a recessed frame it should be level, kind of defeats the purpose otherwise. Hopefully your site supervisor will clarify for you. Get a photo of what you want it to look like and show him so he knows. It looks like you might have the same site supervisor as we do. We got him halfway through and he is pretty good. Hard to get hold of at times but I'm guessing that's due to being the speed he likes to keep things rolling at. Good luck from here. Hopefully no more pop up. Funny that you miss the simple things sometimes.. So frustrating when you finally notice! I'm sure we will have a few of those too! We are getting the mystic taps too. I hope they don't break. We had the upgraded rain shower heads but opted to keep the mystic for practicality. I hope it was just a bad batch! Yep totally defeats the purpose of we have a huge step or exposed brick, heads will roll! We've been on it it with the pictures, but you never know! Where are you building? What stage are you at? I've been watching a local rawson build I think commenced in August and it's still empty, tho looks like nothing has happened in weeks. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1575Feb 11, 2015 9:10 pm At the avenue, we downgraded our rainwater taps to the shower on rail too. Despite them breaking, I'm really really glad we did. They look fab, and so practical. To their credit, Caroma have been really really good about it and are sending yet another replacement no questions asked. A good site supervisor is worth his weight in gold. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1576Feb 13, 2015 2:33 pm Wow, we have been in almost 3 months. So it was time to send in our 90 day list. Only 7 issues the worst being that the porch light was hard wired into the main wiring so no switch was assigned to it. Everything else was tiny, cracks in 2 areas of grout and colour fade on the drive. After the mess about with air on at handover were very very happy... I agree with Mrs Bb, a good SS is the key Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1577Feb 16, 2015 8:56 pm Hi Rico, we are building in schofields. We started around August too, we are just about done, finally. 4-6 weeks to go. Fingers crossed you can sort out that step. Keep on them. We had an issue we raised just after the slab pour and still haven't had a response on(despite regularly asking for an update). Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1578Feb 18, 2015 12:05 pm Hi everyone, Quick questions, we are at framing stage - almost complete. We haven't met our SS yet. We have noticed a few things wrong like the pipes for the kitchen island bench are almost 1 metre from where they should be (not under bench) and some incorrect door heights etc - should we advise the SS or wait until we meet with him on site? (worried about the fact that we have gone on site etc even though the fence isn't even shut let alone locked. Also, when did everyone receive their first progress payment request? Thanks Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1579Feb 18, 2015 5:20 pm Our first payment request seemed to be a bit delayed. We were a bit worried about not receiving it, but don't worry, they'll send it through. They were emailing it to us as well as posting it. You aren't supposed to be on site, so I wouldn't be rubbing it into the S/S's face. If it can be seen from the outside, then bring it up straight away. Otherwise request a walkthrough once framing is finished. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1580Feb 18, 2015 8:49 pm AddyGirl, our frames finished 3 days ago and just got a call from Rawson today confirming our mailling and email address for the slab payment, i'm surprised that it not earlier. Many people has suggested that you should organise a walk thru and point out the problem. My SS said after framing he should be on site a few times a week, so maybe you can to ask to see him whenever he there next. 3 49248 Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval.
