Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1541Dec 09, 2014 9:14 am Just an update. We STILL don't have a firm date for final PCI or handover. Will hound the site supervisor today. At home today dealing with a nit outbreak *sigh* - my very first. Which is of course just what we needed. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1542Dec 09, 2014 3:02 pm Hi all, Seeing as this is a popular Rawson thread, just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the terribly cheap toilets Rawson includes. I constantly find the tank not filling up with water, I have to lift the lid and slight tap the top of the floater to get it to fill. Any one have a solution to this. I'd also like to say, Rawson use terrible gyprockers and painters! Anyone notice of a night time when your lights are on, you can see the beams in the roof. And the painters, the painting is so bad and lets not get started on Tiles Direct!!! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1543Dec 10, 2014 5:35 am Well we are in! Handover went well, we even had a surprise phone call from our SS asking if we would like to get the house early! We had arranged for the Removalist yesterday afternoon so it was a very crazy and exhausting day!! Now foe the daunting task of unpacking argh!!! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1544Dec 10, 2014 6:12 am Congrats Kaz. What a great Xmas present. Feeling for you MrsBB, Rawson appear to have let you down the whole way through. Hopefully at the end you'll have a great home that you love and none of your build issues will overshadow your enjoyment of it. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1546Dec 10, 2014 8:10 pm Congrats Kaz. Fantastic news. Photos? I've been given a date of the 17th now, and my floor layers have managed to fit me in. If I can get the OC, and a removalist on the 23rd, I might squeeze in for xmas. (just), but I'm not counting on it! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1547Dec 10, 2014 8:27 pm Thanks all!! It's so nice to be in, now to put up the Christmas tree. That's awesome mrs BB, glad you will get in by Christmas. Will post pics as soon as I take some Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1548Dec 13, 2014 2:28 pm Did anyone get a conveyancer to check the building contract?? Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1549Dec 13, 2014 4:34 pm Melodynche Did anyone get a conveyancer to check the building contract?? I didn't. My solicitor said I don't have to do it. It's your preference if you want to. Rawson uses standard HIA plain English building contract and it's easy to understand. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1550Dec 13, 2014 7:08 pm I had a solicitor check ours. It's a pretty big commitment so we wanted to understand everything Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1551Dec 14, 2014 3:59 pm Yeh I have already read through some of it. It all seems okay. Just didn't want to miss anything important. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1552Dec 16, 2014 8:04 am Handover tomorrow! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1553Dec 16, 2014 8:29 am Happy happy day Mrs BB. Hope all goes smoothly Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1554Dec 16, 2014 8:31 am Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1555Dec 21, 2014 8:15 pm So we have had handover. Didn't go quite so smoothly but we got the place in the end. As of very late last night, our flooring is finished too. Mr BB has been sleeping there every night until we move, except has taken my little boy to the ER tonight Flooring looks fantastic, really happy with it, but it sure does creak more than I thought it would. It's bamboo. Carpet layers worked from 7:30am to 10pm last night. They spent a substantial part of the morning arguing with each other, so not surprised it took so long. They didn't do a fabulous job either, probably too tired! They still have a cupboard to do as they ran out of carpet. But it won't stop us moving in. Started moving some stuff in today, and started the arduous job of cleaning the place. We're living in the next suburb, so quick trip in the car. Some stuff just too bulky or delicate to go on the truck. Photos soon. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1557Dec 23, 2014 7:49 am Congratulations Mrs Brown Bear ! Really down to the wire. Could you please allow me to view your blog? Would really love to check out the pictures.
