Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1521Nov 30, 2014 1:24 pm JFN - sounds like things are all lined up for you. You would be a good person to ask - did you pay your final invoice at PCI or handover? Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1523Nov 30, 2014 3:21 pm Mrs BB we got our invoice on Friday after we had PCI on Tuesday! Accounts will not process you invoice unless your site supervisor says you have reached practical completion. Glad you have settled in JFN. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1524Dec 01, 2014 1:22 pm Wow, just caught up on the thread. So many handovers or very soon to be handovers. Congrats KiwiFire, goodluck Mrs BrownBear, KazzaW and JFN! Our slab is being poured today (hopefully as I type)! This means the slab will have plenty of time to cure before they start back up mid Jan. I'm happy about this as it also means the frame/windows won't be sitting unprotected during the Xmas break. Can't believe it's finally all happening! Would anyone be willing to share their inspector details? And did anyone bother getting an independent inspection done at slab stage? Thanks! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1525Dec 01, 2014 4:51 pm Most of us went with Howard Ryan. However I think he might be retired now and his son is taking over. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1527Dec 01, 2014 8:08 pm Thanks Pongie. Thanks kazzaw. We are building a modified Balmoral MKII in Southwest Sydney. We drove by tonight and the slab looks huge. Hopefully the hot weather this week won't be problematic. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1528Dec 01, 2014 8:23 pm Who's your SS Akadeft? http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1530Dec 02, 2014 7:58 pm Akadeft, the Balmoral is nice. We would've built that house if we "won" a particular couple of blocks we put in offers for. They were a bit narrower than the one we've ended up with, so went with a different house. And conslabulations! Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1531Dec 03, 2014 8:36 am Hey everyone, Well we've been in 12 daysnow and still no Aircon!! The installers came last Tues and said nothing wrong, our SS called Daikin, after a very very terse phone conversation I had with them they arrived on Friday... With no parts. Another extremely irate phone ca had the tech going back getting parts and returning only for those parts to fail also.... We have been promised aircon from tomorrow... It better happen, I'm ready to call Mr Rawson. We also didn't have holes for our washing machine, some long winded blah blah blah about different machines ... I stopped listening and drilled them myself. Have been wall papering - master bedroom feature wall and all of butlers pantry, when we get NBN hooked up this week I'll post pics. Excavations happened fri/say to level our back yard, they hit rock and lots of it... Which almost doubled the cost, although the twin brother team we hired certianly looked after us in price. Now to get footings down and a retaining wall up, oh and a lotto win to fund it Mrs BB I feel ya pain, I'm sure they'll have you handed over before Xmas and all this will be a distant memory. And to top everything off I start a brand new job tomorrow. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1533Dec 03, 2014 3:02 pm Hey all. New here, but have enjoyed reading this thread. Our land registered today and we have our tender meeting next Monday for a Benham 30. It looks like pretty much everyone in this thread is moving in. Hopefully there are some more just getting under way and join in the conversation. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1534Dec 03, 2014 9:24 pm Congrats Uyllii. There are some other posters at the start of the build. Worth hanging around Kiwifire - any movement on the A/C front. It's so hot and muggy lately that you really need it. Despite all our pre-PCI inspections, the site supervisor has let us down, and we won't be getting our handover for 2 weeks. Considering the date we were at lock up, it's kinda ridiculous. But almost there. Just not turned out how I would have hoped, and a disappointing experience. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1535Dec 04, 2014 6:55 am It's nice to see some newbies!! Kiwifire I hope your air on gets sorted ASAP! Mrs BB you have definately been screwed around! I hope it's smooth sailing from here on in. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1536Dec 04, 2014 1:21 pm I wrote a very strong email to Rawson via their feedback email. Go a call from our SS yesterday and an email from Rawson General Manager. Both apologising blah blah blah but it got a fire under them and we now have aircon. I'm not done with them yet and if it breaks down there will be hell to pay. Mrs BB, I feel for you, you're certainly being mucked about, fire off emails and put everything in writing. PM me if you'd like the GMs details although they all sing the company line. Over all our house is amazing, the only thing wrong (apart from the aircon) is a miss wire with the porch light. We're going to wait till the 13week warranty period is over before we do a full feedback from sales to settling. At the moment I wouldn't recommend Rawson, but I think all builders have the same issues with lack of service & broken promises, they do however deliver great houses. Re: Rawson Homes - Our dream home journey - Metford 28 Trend 1540Dec 05, 2014 12:13 am Kiwifire, I do love the wall paper. Good to hear you are basking in air conditioning. You'll probably need cooling off after all that letter writing! I was kinda wondering why you were wall papering the pantry until I saw the photo - truly lovely. I just discovered today that not only is my insurance to be taken out from PCI, but my defects liability period starts from PCI. WTF? Plus, they gave me a date of tomorrow, which is bollocks as there is no water tank and no kitchen splash back amongst other things. Have had to write a letter to Rawson defending their claim to PC. Worried now sending it will delay handover. Just realised its after midnight. Gah, better get to bed. Yes, i hace signed build contract and currently awaiting colour selection appointment. 2 29639 Any advice on how to ensure the kit home granny flat that im thinking of buying will get council approval.
