Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 01, 2013 3:26 pm We received our building site survey which includes the house placement on our block. It is facing the completely wrong direction to where it should be and when I asked the builder they said that it will all be fixed a prestart- is this normal? We have a rural block and we wanted the house facing the front gate (as most normal people would) but its placed so when you pull in the front your looking at the side of the house?? I have no idea why they have done this but it worries me greatly Also does anyone have an idea if you can use floor tiles for the walls in the bathroom? We love the floor tile in the builders choice but hate the wall tiles. Re: House facing the wrong way? & a tile question! 2Jul 01, 2013 3:41 pm Hey Elle - I would be getting the siting fixed up ASAP. Regarding tiles - you can use a floor tile as a wall tile, however you can't use a wall tile as a floor tile. Hope this helps! Cheers, Travis Re: House facing the wrong way? & a tile question! 4Jul 01, 2013 4:36 pm Regarding the house facing, maybe they've positioned it to take best advantage of prevailing sun &/or breezes, with respect to where your living areas & windows & outdoor-areas etc are? ie. the house may be designed to face that way, and you may be better to put a few extra plants in so you can utilise the design of the house? Just a thought, anyhoo. Re: House facing the wrong way? & a tile question! 5Jul 01, 2013 4:51 pm I honestly think they just plonked it on the plan- we are on a corner block so it is facing a road however there is a stream running along that side therefore you cannot access from there. Plus our crossover is on the road it should be facing. The warning is on the sticker on the door too.
