Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 321Feb 17, 2014 10:32 pm Thanks Copper, McLaren, Lucinda, FairmontSAcustom, Melanie. We are pleased with how it's all going. We can't wait to move in. Handover has been delayed as there are a couple of issues with the garage beam and a some tiling and paint defects etc. We really want to move in but we would rather wait then to rush getting in when things are not completely right. Builder needs to still get a move on though!!! McLaren, we are getting tiling done after handover by an independent tiler. We checked that all the downlights are centred in the niches. Funny thing though was our glass shelf was crooked in the main bathroom. Really wonky - the guys who did it ,use have either been cross eyed or was under the influence! Even my 2 year old would have installed it straighter than he had. It's since been rectified. Mirrored robes are all in and we really like them. Silicone/caulking done to most of house. Had cleaners in last weekend doing a preclean. Fly screens are all in too. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 322Feb 18, 2014 8:07 pm So close to the end, woo hoo. Can't wait to see moved in pics Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 324Mar 03, 2014 11:38 pm Hey FairmontSACustom
You have been very patient with me and my lack of updates! Range hood in and I love it. I love sharp clean angles laundry with hanging rail and overheads and tiled splashback mirrored robes in bedrooms audio guys have been to install the alarm system and phone points and data cables etc. hot water service remotes in fascia on fire place done no set handover date but not far away )*still within contract completion date) as we just want to make sure all is sorted before its all signed off good news is our curtains and blinds and pelmets are ready to be installed but no keys so have to put them off for a bit sofas and stools and coffee table etc have come in. New fridge ready for delivery. Its all happening now Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 325Mar 04, 2014 8:07 am For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 326Mar 04, 2014 8:42 am Looks fantastic, Pannacotta. Love all of it. Hope handover is soon. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 327Mar 05, 2014 10:05 am It was worth the wait, house is looking amazing. Of course we have chosen a very similar if not the same range hood Have you had or got a date for PCI? Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 328Mar 13, 2014 11:21 pm Good question. Actually we've had 2 pre hand overs already! The process we've been through is a bit unconventional. The first prehandover was pointless as there was still so much to do and we found another wall issue which has since been rectified. We should have handover in 1-2 weeks...... Just waiting on SS to get back to us re final date! We have all this furniture waiting to be picked up/delivered and curtains etc but no house yet to furnish! Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 329Mar 14, 2014 8:00 am Sounds par for the course with D but you're getting there .... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 330Mar 14, 2014 8:19 pm Your house is looking amazing Pannacotta. You must be glad the whole thing is nearly over. At least having 2 pre handover inspections means you get a couple of chances to pick up any issues. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 331Mar 14, 2014 8:36 pm 1 - 2 weeks to handover, how exciting! Especially seeing all your lovely new purchases in their new home. Shame that you have had issues too but glad they have been rectified. Looking forward to pics, hope it's all smooth sailing from here Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- almost there! 332Mar 15, 2014 9:13 am Aww thanks muchly guys for your kind words. BUT.......there's more........ HANDOVER SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY 25TH MARCH!!! Which is essentially a week over official contract hand over date so we are not too upset (as I wouldn't want to be dealing with a mound of issues on handover day) but would have been nice to get the keys in Feb! It had better be smooth sailing from here or else....... Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 334Mar 15, 2014 12:09 pm Good to hear you're nearly there. Hope all goes well on hand-over. The missus & I have been following and can't wait to see the finished pics (with or without furniture) Oh, and I like the TV above the fireplace - what a great idea!! (great minds think alike) You may need to check on what sort of TV bracket you get, as the powerpoint may be where you need to screw the bracket on. I remeber it was a bit of fun working out where to put the bracket to get the TV perfectly centred within the niche, was glad the powertpoint and data connection was low down, also made it easier to get my hand behind the TV to connect things up. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 335Mar 15, 2014 4:15 pm Very very smart indeed. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 336Mar 15, 2014 8:12 pm Oh, it's all looking very swish Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 338Mar 17, 2014 9:57 pm DingoD64 Good to hear you're nearly there. I really like the woodgrain look of it. Looks great on any joinery- kitchen or bathroom! Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 339Mar 17, 2014 10:14 pm Our panel lift door and our little roller door were installed today but no pics at this point as it was raining when I eventually got to the house. Very happy with the Surfmist colour we have chosen. Not too stark white....just right. Starting to feel like it is all coming together now. Re: Building in SA with Dech£llis Homes- Handover soon! 340Mar 17, 2014 10:26 pm I was quite nerves when I chose it. The funny thing is when I first chose it I came on here and typed in seductive limba and ding you came up . And that's when I thought it was a perfect choice ( but it still stressed me out until they started on my kitchen Can you give advice on how to get missing certificates needed for a form 21? Our bank requires us to provide one but we are missing 4 building certificates from our first… 3 71736 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5206 Your house should come in "as new" condition.
